“Would you have hired me if my resume included cannibalism?” Ah, an attitude, the best of all ways to respond to something as generous as what she had done for him. He had his own reason for keeping secrets like that, of course, but he understood where she was coming from. She didn’t seem to be casting judgement on him now for it; maybe all she wanted was a buffer and fair warning. And that was… fair enough.
“…We come from different places. Help isn’t always free. The insult wasn’t intentional.”
A moment of silence passed him, and he decided that it was better for Amrita and her club if he told her about his assailant — and victim.
“Her name is Rize,” he decided to answer. “Young and attractive, with violet hair and red glasses. Where we’re from, she was called a binge eater. The type of trouble she gets into is more death than destruction.”
No, if anyone was to be destructive, that would be Furuta. But Uta didn’t feel like explaining; for now, he saw the both of them more like a soap opera than any threat that could take down buildings here in the city. If Ari really needed to know, Uta would let her know. That was how he dealt with most of his personal business, for better or worse.
“Might’a considered implementin’ some ground rules t’ start,” is the scoff, mouth twisting to one side in displeasure. “Look, I dunno if y’ were born this way or if y’ got this way, but it’s kinda like vampires-- y’ can’t really help your diet. Well, most vampires, in any case-- so unless you’re jus’ eatin’ people for funsies, that’s not th’ kinda thing I’m gonna judge ya on.” Words accompanied with a shrug, lips relaxing with the sigh as she continues. “Now, what kinda people, how often, how cruelly... that might take some consideration.” One of her hands unhooks from her pocket, her gaze dropping to her fingers as she inspects them idly. “Like for example this... binge eater, y’ said? Gluttony’s a sin, y’ know.”
Not that she was going to go start a manhunt for this girl at the moment, but if she ever ran across her, she’d definitely remember the fact if it came to it. She doesn’t like it, of course, not going out to hunt things that could be hurting people but...
There are some things she’s just not willing to put herself in the middle of for the sake of people who will only question what gives her the right to do anything for the greater good. Heroics are all well and good, unless people try and make it seem as if you’re not trying hard enough to understand people who would jut as soon tear them apart.
She gets more and more like her ‘family’ every day.
“In any case, th’ details’a all that’s somethin’ we can discuss another time, hones’ly. I was havin’ a nice bath before y’ called, y’ know an’ I think after this, I’m gonna have t’ start tryin’ t’ relax all over again.”
