Rin acknowledging Towa and Setsuna as Sesshomaru’s daughters in this scene is entirely about her accepting that her daughters have obligations and responsibilities as members of the Dog Demon clan (such as the Grim Comet), while also making sure they know she understands and is okay with them leaving to fulfil those obligations.

She knew exactly what she was getting into when she married him. I don’t know why people seem to think she went into that marriage blind as to what would be expected of her (or her children). Besides, Towa and Setsuna never would have been okay leaving her right away if she hadn’t urged them to go.

SessRin fam will get their hug and big fluffy bonding moment. It just won’t be with Sesshomaru incapacitated, Rin in her underclothes, Kirinmaru trying to exterminate them, and the Grim Comet looming over their heads, and I’m PERFECTLY okay with that.
