I have these moments of sweet solace

When I rest my head upon my pillow at night and think of you

Or when I wake and go to those moments when we were together

Everything in between is a blur

Everything in between is just a distraction

Something to pass the time

In the silence of the wind I speak to you

I tell you I love you before I fall asleep hoping you hear

I harbour this great secret of mine

That this heart of mine belongs to you

Even when my friends think I’m looking in other places

I know the truth

The one thing I want

Is the only thing out of my reach

even when you're not here

you linger like a tattoo

They move like a brush fire

Like a pack of wild dogs who smell food

Even when I try my best to keep them under lock and key, they still manage to break free

I want to say I’m working on it

I want to say I’m fine

I’m lost in a whirlpool of emotions

But I can see you holding a branch to climb onto

So I’ll reach for it, even if it snaps

Cling to me like rocks in my pocket

Linger like a cigarette

Burn a hole in my chest

because outside

Rain falls on me like the kisses of a lover

Soaking my jacket

I finally know what is was like to stand in front of a mirror

I’ve planted the seeds to my own garden

I water them occasionally

I feed them lots of sunshine

I speak to them

I smile when I look in the mirror

I laugh at random things

I make faces at small children

And I even dance in the rain

I am a flower in my garden

Watch me bloom and blossom!
