INTERSEX IS NOT:
- species that all have the same or both genitalia
- species/characters that can change their genitals to be whatever they want at will
- species/characters that change their genitals situationally
- aliens that can reproduce asexually or with anyone from the same species
INTERSEX IS:
- a person/animal/organism/character that is part of a species with two or more distinct sexes (at least within the social constructs of the species), who exists between these binaries (mixed, ambiguous, lacking, or incomplete genitalia, hormone differences, chromosome differences, or differences in/mixed sexual characteristics)
PLEASE for the love of g-d stop calling your alien species that has both genitals or a uniform set of genitals across the species ""intersex"". intersex people are tired of seeing this. it does not accurately describe intersexness at all. you can use the terms "monogenital" (for all members of the species having the same uniform genitalia) or "bigenital" (for all members of the species having both genitals)
the thing about media literacy is that understanding why the author chose to specify that the curtains are blue is the same skill set as understanding that the way the author characterizes all black characters as angry or all chinese characters as meek and silent is racist. it is the same skill set as being able to identify when a news source is biased or when someone is feeding you propaganda. the ability to ask "why did this person choose to present this premise in this specific way?" is a critical skill in a world full of misinformation. why are the curtains blue? maybe it's a characterization detail. maybe it's extraneous worldbuilding. why is this character written as being right all the time? maybe you're intended to disagree with them. maybe it doesn't matter. maybe you should still ask why.
the issue with growing up in the 2000s and 2010s was like there was this really big push toward "accepting your weirdness" overall but they meant like idk wearing mismatched socks or something not being tangibly beyond the norm in any way shape or form
firm believer you can't be a ''good person''. too much niuance to life.
you can be good (adjective) but you cannot be good (identity)
if you think you are good (identity) you are more likely to cause harm as you don't consider yourself to be capable of it
Nonbinary people are so cool I wish our rights were taken seriously haha
Genuinely though it is so frustrating that nonbinary rights and exorsexism are not treated seriously at all, even from within the queer community. It sucks that there's not even an option for an X gender marker in so many countries, including in more progressive queer-friendly ones. It sucks that if enben want to get gender affirming care that we're advised to lie about our gender (or lack thereof) in favour of a more binary trans identity lest we jump through a million extra hoops on top of the million already in place for binary trans people to prove we're serious in order to get the care we want/need. It sucks that in most cases we're still forced into some kind of binary and I wish that the issues we deal with were acknowledged more.
you don't have to be scared of your suicidal friends. you don't have to be scared of your psychotic or delusional friends. you don't have to call the police every time someone says they feel like they want to die. you can say things like, "that sounds really hard" and "I'm going to bring you some food and you can tell me more about it"
Important addition thank you! You can absolutely have boundaries about substance use but your friends who use substances know themselves and their needs better than you, and they do not need policing or threats of incarceration. If you want to help your friends who deal with addiction, be patient and demonstrate that you're a safe person to talk to.
it's ironic that ableds love using disabled people for inspiration porn but hate actually giving the vast majority of disabled people the tools and accommodation to facilitate disabled people doing more with their time. it's almost like the point of it isn't to inspire but to create a false narrative that disability can be overcome with strength of will because look at these people who did it! now stop asking for help
I don't know who my intended audience is here, so whoever needs to hear this, I am begging you to learn to participate in conversations that are about things you aren't interested in.
Part of socializing and having friends is being a good listener even when you don't actually give a shit about the subject.
Your are hurting other people's feelings when you bluntly respond with "Anyway..." and then change the topic.
It can not always be about your preferred topic.
You are being rude. Yes, even if you are neurodivergent. You can be both autistic and rude.
"But what if Donald Trump came out as a transgender woman? That would create a paradox for you leftists, because you wouldn't be able to criticize him anymore."
Actually, I know exactly how I'd respond to Donald Trump coming out as a transgender woman.
Instead of wanting to piss on his grave, I'd want to piss on her grave. It's really not that complicated.
hate when people think the only archetype possible for a male sidekick to a female protagonist is a soft boi and/or himbo. like the implication there is that the only reason a man would ever defer to a woman’s authority is if he was a bumbling idiot. love male supporting characters who are smart and strong and confident and can step up when necessary but still kind and humble enough to let someone else take the lead most of the time
ok another good point here
when the allegedly cishet neurotypical relative hits you with the "well i think everyones a little bit on the spectrum" "its normal to think about kissing your girl friends sometimes" "sure i've never felt like a woman but i can't change what i am." and you have to suddenly carefully evaluate whether theyre just being dismissive or if you've unlocked some very interesting potential information about your grandmother.
Ok We're Rly High N Just Need 2 Say This Like Ik We're Anti Surveillance N Anti Govn N Evertyhing I KNOW But GOD I Wish We Had Like, Internet 2 Or Somthn That U Can Only Use If Ur Verified Adult Im Tired Of Everyhint Being Baby Proofed Im OVER It It SUCKS Kids Only Places Have Been Closed But Atp Just Like Leave This internet For Kiddos N Leave Internet 2 For Adults Only Sorgy I Took The Gummy Of YAP
i think this is kinda based on a misunderstanding of what's going on here. the "baby-proofing" is for the same reason children's spaces are being shut down and the same reason they're trying to make people verify they're adults and the same reason everything is more hostile. they're trying to make a profit
kids' spaces aren't profitable! kids on the internet aren't profitable! you can't sell things to them as much and you can't get away with selling their data as easily, so websites targeted at them are often shut down, and those kids end up in adult-geared places
the "kid-friendly" thing is because of trying to make a profit too! they don't care about children, they want it to be advertiser friendly. it's about being marketable (where adult and other serious topics are not usually considered to be such). so it's incredibly hostile to adults while blaming children, who have no authority over this
the same thing is going on with the age verification. they can dig into your privacy more, sell your identity and look into your internet usage, etc. while keeping those pesky nonprofitable children off the internet and in settings where parents have more control (and more opportunities to abuse and isolate)
it's not about "protecting children"; it never has been. the only way to go back to an internet where things aren't like this is if everything wasn't geared towards exploitation for the sake of profit
a character being a perpetrator does not negate their victimhood and neither does their victimhood negate being a perpetrator. u can accept and reckon w both dimensions in ur analysis
there is nothing morally purifying about suffering or victimhood, it is not something that inculcates “goodness.”
one’s character has no impact on whether they were/are a victim or not, victim status is not something that is only afforded to the palatable.
it also does not = absolution.
ppl cant handle this in cartoons made for teenagers lets not get ahead of ourselves

> medical problem > unsure if it's serious or will go away on its own > sees a doctor to be sure > "why the fuck are you here. this is nothing. it will go away on its own"
> medical problem > unsure if it's serious or will go away on its own > decide to wait to not overreact > problem remains > sees doctor with concrete problem after all > "why did you wait so long. we could have done something if you had come immediately"
its so awkward when people ask me why i dropped out and i have to be like "inadequate disability support" bc no one wants to hear this. they're always like i thought they had to provide that though isn't it the law? girl you might want to sit down i have some bad news about the litigation-based enforcement of the americans with disabilities act
then if i do say that theyre like, couldnt you sue? well theoretically maybe but not without spending more money than i have and putting myself through absolute hell. so no. no i can't.
