I was rewatching Uraraka vs Bakugou and Midoriya vs Todoroki at the gym today and theres a few important things i wanna point out that i missed with my old recap

Okay really it’s one thing but Deku has this habit of just rolling over submissive to people who intimidate him, until they say one negative word about someone Deku cares about

Then Deku goes right for the jugular and it’s great

Bakugou: Move, loser Deku: O-o-o-h-h-h Kacchan I didn’t see you!!! Ah whoops s-s-sorry I’m heading on out of here sorry to be in your way I-I-I I’m going now!!!! Bakugou: You piece of shit, you told Gravity Girl to mess with me, didn’t you Deku: Hey Baku-bitch listen the fuck up for one second k? Uraraka came up with that strategy all on her own, because she’s smart, and if I catch you insulting her ever again you can catch these fucking hands,

Ok but no joke can I just take a sec to say this is what I love most about this kid and by extent the show???

Like you wouldn’t know it but I think Midoriya Izuku gives zero fucks about what people think of him.

Everyone assumes Izuku’s just a giganic pushover who can’t do shit but at the very core of his being he KNOWS who he is, what he cares about and what he wants. Remember he went through several years of severe bullying without ever once really giving up on his goals. He had doubts, sure, but they were more based on the reality imposed by his condition than what others said to and about him.

He feels safer being submissive and stuttery around people who he feels unsafe with. He was like that with Uraraka and Iida until he got to know them better, not to mention Toshinori. That’s just how he relates to others until he warms up to them.

But when you say something that he disagrees with at his core, specially if it relates to someone he cares about, his whole demeanor changes because it’s no longer how he relates to the world and others. Keeping silent and rolling over then is not even an option because, in his head, the dynamic and what’s at stake has completely changed.

Telling him he’s shit: “hahah well what are you gonna do that may be true hahah oh no”

Telling him his friends are anything less than perfect: ”well that’s just a lie and anything less is a misperception of reality”

You can step all over him all you want because his own safety and even dignity matters way less to him than being who he wants to be; a good hero and friend.

. You wouldn’t know it but I think Midoriya Izuku gives zero fucks about what people think of him.
