okay i love on my block soooo much but that scene where Olivia and Monse are having a spa day and they are Nairing they’re upper lips!! The best scene ever!! I was so embarrassed to tell people i used nair and then i met my best friend who was ethnic too and she did and i made me feel so much better. The thought of all those little ethnic girls watching that scene and it being normalized warms my freaking heart.

how on earth are the princess diaries toxic movies?

Hey! So for me, they had a really bad influence on my self image! They make a very specific and bold statement on what is considered ugly and for me, and a lot of other girls, we looked pretty similar. It’s very hurtful and hard to embrace yourself when movies like that exist and are so popular. You don’t have to think they’re bad and if you’re blonde or have thin eyebrows and smooth hair, you probably never even looked at it that way

This is so aggressive?? Why does validity in my statement coincide with my follower count. I have a blog with 12k if I had said it there would it have been more valid? The movie targets a small group of girls and calls them ugly, even though there’s no universe where Anne Hathaway is ugly. The features attacked are also features found more commonly on ethnic girls (thick eyebrows, curly/frizzy hair etc) so that’s really not cool. You’re a very angry little person though, so like idk, watch the princess diaries and get better soon. (Also i think you meant my opinion “isn’t valid” invalid doesn’t fit in that context!

whenever things start to feel like they're getting to be Too Much and everything feels like it's useless I think about Jenna Marble's draw my life. Jenna had moved to LA and recently(ish) broken off a long term and very public relationship. At the end of the video, in the most vulnerable state I'd ever seen, she said she felt alone & scared & lost. LIKE TWO WEEKS LATER she started dating her current boyfriend and since then has been happier than I've ever seen her. Give things time. It'll all work out in the end.

Well, she’s not calling for anyone to be harmed (fighting words), and she’s not telling lies about any particular person (slander/libel), and she’s not directly inflicting bodily harm, so the only “crime” she’s guilty of is saying mean things. Maybe disturbing the peace, but she’s clearly not “all there”.
