can you tell us more about the oc you ship with scara? and do you also have an oc for Phainon?
hello hello! I saw this ask in my inbox and I wanted to do it justice, so I waited a while to answer this! And now I'm excited because SCARAYUKI YAP SESSION INCOMINGGGG
so Aurora is the name of my OC. She's from Sumeru City, a thespian and dancer who was trained by Nilou. She acts in plays and appears as a background dancer at the various performances put up at the Zubayr Theatre.
However, times are tough when the Akademiya puts pressure on the Theatre to close down and fire its performers. Finding herself struggling to make ends meet, it's not long before Aurora gets to taking all kinds of random jobs and commissions... eventually for anyone who has the Mora to pay. She learns to be resourceful, light on her feet, and trust no one. Formerly a sweet and trusting girl, she's now shrewd and calculating, outwardly light-hearted but on her guard at all times.
Since I'm a fic writer who writes many AUs, the story diverges into different timelines based on which AU I'm writing for:
1) In my Fatui AU, Aurora is recruited into the Fatui with the promise of steady pay and continuous employment. She works under a few Harbingers, including Dottore, before being transferred to Scaramouche's unit, where she is eventually promoted to being his right-hand woman and personal guard, sworn to lay down her life for his. The story continues later with their complicated hierarchical relationship, and later, when Scaramouche defects from the Fatui, there's no one he trusts more than her to cover his tracks. When they're discovered and imprisoned by Dottore's troops in an underground cell, they have to work together to break out of there, leave their Fatui lives and identities behind, and step out into the world born anew without names and identities. Shipped with Scaramouche the Harbinger.
2) In the Harbinger x bounty hunter AU, Aurora is an assassin working with the northern intelligence network to quietly eliminate high profile targets. When she's assigned to take down Scaramouche, she's at his throat with a blade when she realises the tip from Fontainian law enforcement was a honey trap for bounty hunters, and that she, not him, will be eliminated in the forest that night. Sensing some humanity within this girl, Scaramouche offers her a way to escape to Nod-Krai, where enemies of the Inazuma Shogunate have a refuge to hide from the long arm of the law. One sea adventure and several broken bones later, both of them are now in the care of the mysterious Sangonomiya Kokomi, who comes and goes like a shadow between the trees, and both the Harbinger and the bounty hunter must make their peace with each other going forward as unlikely allies. Shipped with Scaramouche the Harbinger. (haven't designed her yet)
3) Inazuman prince Scaramouche (called Shinsetsu in this story) x Sumeru commoner Aurora AU: As part of a diplomatic alliance between Sumeru and Inazuma, Shinsetsu is told one morning that the Shogun has unilaterally decided that he is to be married off to an unknown woman from Sumeru to secure certain interests Inazuma has in Sumeru. Resentful at being used as a political pawn, Shinsetsu is prepared to despise the woman who will soon show up - except that when she does, he realises she's just as unhappy and miserable as he is, if not more. She's immediately ostracised within the palace for being a foreigner, her culture looked down on as strange and weird. Scheming court nobles are always attempting to trip her up with Inazuma's complicated royal decorum, all the while she sits forlornly by the windows of Shinsetsu's residential quarters, looking across the sea and growing pale and ill. Shinsetsu begins to feel guilty about being a burden to an innocent person who is as trapped as he is, but matters come to a head when she is publicly humiliated at a tea party, and accused of being a hasty shotgun wedding. That is the turning point for Shinsetsu, who realises that she has no allies and no friends in the palace, and it's on him to stick up for her and protect her from the scheming courtiers who would have preferred that Shinsetsu marry one of their own daughters. He begins to teach her Inazuman, help her get fitted for a kimono, and ease her transition into her new life as much as he's able. In return, he begins to learn more about the culture she comes from, and far from finding it exotic and strange, he's curious and fascinated. It's not long before he encourages her to keep those parts of her identity, and arranges for things from Sumeru to be brought to the palace from time to time, or Sumerian dishes to be cooked and served from the palace kitchens. In return, as she opens up to him, he finds her a delightful and joyful soul, who encourages him to break out of his royal etiquette and all the strictures he was raised with - including an illicit fishing expedition beyond the palace walls! Shinsetsu begins to discover who he really is when all the titles are stripped away, and they soon find a kindred soul in the other.
4) Usually though, base Aurora (so no AU timelines) is the one I have still living in Sumeru and shipped with Wanderer, because he's mentioned going to Treasures Street and the Grand Bazaar multiple times, so he does get to watch her performances sometimes! Wanderer's special circumstances re: Irminsul means I have to do some extra leg work for them to fully get to know each other, because imo there's no loving Wanderer without loving Scaramouche too.
5) Other AUs not set in Teyvat include my idol scara x fan Aurora fic, which is already published and up on AO3 (check pinned). In this AU, Scaramouche is an idol working for FH entertainment, wildly successful but with deep problems of his own. Everything changes when he meets a girl in a convenience store one night, and his whole world spins off his axis as they both learn the meaning of parasocial relationships vs truly knowing someone, and learn to not put each other on a pedestal.
As for Phainon: I haven't gotten around to designing an HSR self-insert yet, and I wouldn't say I have a specific OC in mind when I think about Phainon? Aurora is the name I use for my Trailblazer in Star Rail, so it'd be more natural for me to call my HSR OC Aurora as well, but I might get around to it sometime, since Amphoreus is my favourite part of HSR and nothing will top Amphoreus for me 💙☀️
