Yet another new study debunked the basis for the anti-trans sports bans. It was never about sports but for creating legal avenues for exclusion and abjection. This is one of the largest analyses ever conducted, involving 52 studies and 6,485 trans people. Read the study here.

If you are still curious and want to learn more about OCD, you can visit the International OCD Foundation's website. I also recommend this amazing TED ED video "Starving The Monster", which was my first introduction to the disorder and this video by John Green about his own experience with OCD.
The IOCDF's website can also help you find support groups, therapy, and has lots of online guides and resources as well if you or a loved one is struggling with the disorder. It is very comprehensive!
Reblog to teach your followers about OCD
(But also not reblogging doesn't make you evil, silly goose)
My default explanation is that OCD is rooted in a desperate, clawing attempt to control a fundamentally uncontrollable world in order to keep yourself safe. But this goes into some very helpful detail on how that actually works in practice and how it results in the compulsive behavior people think of when they think of OCD.
I’m sorry Orpheus i was too harsh on you…
i was in the physics lab today and we were working with lasers, so the Lab Freaks (legal name) were being very careful to stress that we Do Not Turn Around or Look Behind Us because we’ll get extremely blinded by the power of high strength lasers
and i’m not gonna lie it was actually extremely hard to resist turning around. i misjudged orpheus it turns out this isnt extremely easy actually
okay i’ll be honest i 100% looked back at the lasers. actually multiple separate lasers multiple different times. they were pretty
and i didnt get blinded. so clearly lab safety isnt real and you should always risk it cus taking risks is awesome #gambling
but uh. my ass is NOT making it out of the underworld 🔥🔥🔥
One of life's great ironies is that almost everyone who makes the active decision to not have kids would probably be way better at raising a child than all the people who just kind of have children because it's what they think everyone is supposed to do
Like genuinely if you're like "I don't want kids because of the financial strain/the commitment/the irritation I would feel/the possibility of traumatizing them/whatever reason" you instantly demonstrate to me that you 1) understand the realities of parenthood and 2) believe that children should be treated with at least a base level of respect and compassion. Meanwhile everyone who's like "I want kids because I don't want to be alone" "I can't wait to dress up my babies" "I won't raise my children to be soft" may as well be talking about Neopets for all the fucks they seem to give about kids
Me: Fuck, the paper towels I want are on the top shelf.
The Sir David Attenborough That Lives In My Brain: Being smaller-than-average presents an added challenge to foraging ... but necessity is the mother of invention. A little creativity turns a baguette into a tool, and voilà--
(paper towel roll falls on my face)
Sir David Attenborough, pleasantly: Success.
Me, 3am: But am I even deserving of love
The Steve Irwin That Lives In My Brain: Crikey, get a look at this art teacher! These are so important to the local area, right, because they create habitat for heaps of vulnerable critters like juvenile nerds, goths, and furries. I love finding these because they often have these great ornamentations that they can use to identify one another. Take a look at the piercings and tattoos, here. Absolutely gorgeous! Let's let this one get back to sleep.
Hey someone suggested I use ChatGPT to figure out adulting today, and as I was going through the mental list of places I'd rather look, I realized "beloved strangers on Tumblr dot net" was on that list.
So if you have an aspect of adulting that you're really good at-taxes, budgeting, cooking, insurance, credit, time management, house upkeep, anything-please feel free to reblog with any tips.
Not me, but @bitchesgetriches has a lot of great resources for many of these topics on their website.

Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood is also exploring whether chemical castration could be made mandatory.
This is about the UK specifically.
See this? This is the trap. This is how they get you. You appeal to outrage and emotion, you make a bold statement like "sex offenders don't have rights" and whip up that righteous anger, get people all thirsty for blood and punishment, right? And that's their foot in the door. Once you've decided that there's a class of people it's okay to do this to, there's no clean line in the sand anymore, is there? Now chemical castration (or whatever fucked up shit you wanna bring into it) is an option on the table. This is how fascists talk, this is how fascists think, and this is how fascists appeal to you to get what they want. Because once you've given them that inch, they can use it to take a mile.
Alan Turing (as in the Turing test) was chemically castrated following a conviction for “homosexual acts” in 1952. He committed suicide as a result.
“they shouldn’t have rights” are you even listening to yourselves?
*puts hands on hollywood exec's shoulders, staring unblinking into their eyes* listen to me. you will never get people who hate musicals to like musicals by making your musical less of a musical. if you hide the fact that your film is a musical in the advertising, you're going to get a lot of low ratings from people who hate musicals and went into your movie not expecting a musical and got one anyway. people who hate musicals will hate them no matter how realistic and diegetic and lowkey you try to make it. they will hate musicals even if you completely excise anything complicated, over the top, silly, or even slightly challenging. they will hate musicals even if you cut half the songs. they will hate musicals even if you cast that a-lister who can't sing worth a damn. stop trying to market to people who hate musicals. they're a lost cause. your audience should be people who love musicals. this half-assed middle ground pisses off both camps. just embrace the fact that your movie is a musical. lean into it. don't try and trick musical haters into coming to your film when you could be marketing to the theater kids. better cringe than a coward.
give that woman leg hair

obviously the how to train ur dragon movies and books are complete opposites but I think a major difference between httyd 1 (book) and httyd 1 (movie) is that in the movie hiccup is a snarky 16 year old who is disliked by his Viking tribe partly bcus he’s two pounds and a wimp and partly bcus he’s a snotty little asshole, making his status as an outcast come off as pitiful in a way that’s not entirely tragic since it’s fairly justified in a way that is realistic for a sympathetic asshole teen to be, and in the book Hiccup is a ten year old autistic boy who gets violently beaten every day by his much older and stronger peers who alongside his adult tribe mates, verbally abuse and berate him for being small (he’s ten) and socially awkward (he’s autistic) so regularly that his internal monologue is so endlessly pessimistic and self hating that it could be the internal monologue of a fifty year old man about to commit suicide and not a ten year old boy living in a fantasy land. Movie stoic tries to prevent hiccup from entering dragon training at 16 bcus he’s worried for his safety, book hiccup is forced to enter a cave full of dragons at ten yrs old and told that if he doesn’t come back having wrangled a dragon for himself he will be exiled out of the tribe and killed and when he is inevitably attacked by said hoard of dragons he’s made to jump from a cliff into the below freezing water while it’s snowing and nearly breaks his neck to escape the dragon about to rip his tendon out. It’s so funny to me that in httyd (movies) adaption choice to make the story “more mature” they also change all of the super dark and fucked up elements to be tamer and less intense 💀
