"Just a 2 month trip. Nothing more"
I stare at the mirror in my bathroom. I don't know why I'm so scared, it's just a simple exploratory mission, we're just going to investigate the thing that appeared in Rockys solar system, nothing more! But I cannot shake that feeling of dread, the same feeling I felt when forced on the Hail Mary. I know-I know, if I told Rocky he'd figure out a way to let me out of this mission, but I want to go, so bad! You have no idea how cool it would be to see a new planet! (besides Erid) I want to go so-badly but every bone in my body screams at me too not go. I feel sick, like I'll throw up at any second, I splash cold water in my face, rubbing my face. I stare at my reflection.
" You are almost 35 years old! You trust Rocky more than yourself, if he says you'll get back, you'll get back! And besides"
I shrug.
"It's barely a 2 maybe 3 month trip, you'll be back before you even turn 35!"
I talk to myself, trying to reassure myself I'll be fine. I chuckle as the twisting of my stomach disappears for a bit. I get my glasses back on right as Rocky knocks on the door.
"Grace ok Question? Rocky know grace old, make sure not fall!"
"No, I'm ok rocky, just a bit nervous"
I open the door, readjusting my glasses and taking a deep breath trying to forget my fear.
"Why? What grace nervous of? grace no want go to go Question?
"No no no! I want to go! I just have some nervous jitters ya' know!"
I walk out of the bathroom and head towards my kitchen to make my breakfast for the morning, we've only got a few weeks till departure, and I'd like to enjoy freshly made food before I have to eat the packaged stuff for a while
"If grace no want to go Grace, Grace don't have to!"
"No, I do! I'm just excited that's all, it's a human thing, we get nervous when we're excited!"
I start making coffee as Rocky trots up to my side
"That so stupid! Humans am stupid, why get nervous when happy!?"
I chuckle
"I don't know buddy we just do"
I grab my coffee mug pouring the dark black coffee into my cup and fancying it up to as close to the hail mary as I can get, after being on that ship for so long and having that be the only coffee I drank for years, I've never liked any other type. Once its prepared, I sip my coffee letting the hot drink run down my throat and properly wake me up.
"In other words, Rocky came here for reason!"
"Yea? wha's that?"
Theres going to be a lot going on today, first I have to plan lessons for the next few days, then I have to check up on the flower garden out on the cliffs and then-
"Rocky and Grace crew are going to leave early! And Adrian coming too!"
I choke on my coffee making rocky worry about me like he usually does, he's always worried because I'm so 'fragile'. love him but definitely tends to over think
"Rocky sorry! Sorry sorry! No mean to make Grace choke!"
"I'm -Ack- I'm fin- -ACK- fine I'm fine"
My throats sore from choaking on the hot coffee
"What-What do you mean we're leaving early??"
I completely forgot what else Rocky said after "we're leaving early'" we can't be leaving early, I'm nowhere near ready to leave, I haven't even planned anything, and I am not ready to give up my fresh food yet!
