Interesting emotion dynamics 👀
Fear and Sadness are the two most bottled up emotions by Disgust and THE ONE TIME they are actually allowed to come back to the front, it was because Regina was hit by a goddamn BUS
More Mean Girls × Inside Out crossover
Mean Girls AU? Whoa 👀
i saw cool concepts of "disordered" emotions ( Joy > Mania, Fear > Paranoia ) and i figure Ennui could spiral into Depression if left unchecked
she becomes aggressive and instead of using her phone, will have a iron grip on the console as her fixation, leaving the host in a constant state of bed rot, apathy, and malaise. her hair is long and greasy in appearance with yellow teeth due to lack of care for the self in preference to do nothing. she is extremely difficult to communicate with as she has begun isolating herself and her more normal sarcastic and aloof personality is heightened to outright refusing to talk and reason with the other emotions ( finding it pointless ). even when sleeping, she doesnt leave the console, both hands tightly gripping it.
Pathologies for emotions is an intriguing idea.
amonton’s law states that pressure increases as temperature increases when the area of an enclosed space is constant. amonton’s law is what makes tires pop in the summer, and what makes canned/bottled drinks explode in a hot car
you get it you GET IT. the sort of anger feeding into anxiety cycle is what got me to draw this in the first place. in my experience it’s more of anxiety responding to anger, as i find myself trying to bite my tongue back [metaphorically] which only ever leads to both of them getting more and more intense until something blows over. hence the mention of amonton’s law; my experience with the anger/anxiety loop is anxiety trying to push anger down, which only ever leads to both of them getting worse, which tends to lead to an outburst
also seriously i will pay money for some more interactions between them PLEASE let that third movie that got announced in january be good and also give us more interactions with the new four and the main five 🙏🙏🙏 i’ll admit i’m not exactly hopeful considering the track record pixar has with their recent sequels but i will also admit that i thought inside out 2 would have been terrible before i even watched it so maybe they’ll pull through
I think about that once quick, almost throwaway gag scene where Anger wanted to punt Anxiety into the memory dump and I want that sentiment to continue. I want them to have beef witch each other. I don’t expect him to ever get physically violent toward like he does with Fear because “you can’t hit a girl”. Since it’s a mainstream family movie, I can let that slide. But I do want to see intent, like what happened in the scene I mentioned.its just so interesting to me how much beef Anger has with Fear and Anxiety.
But even in IO2 Anger punched Fear only once. It implies he’s feeling less of a need for it, which is great in the sense of it meaning that Riley’s psyche is becoming less polarized and more integrated which in the real world is a great thing, but from a storytelling perspective it means less potential plot conflict.
I wanna see more office workplace drama is what I’m basically saying. It’s what these movies do best in my opinion.
i love that you mentioned the fact that anger’s aggression with anxiety is essentially a continuation of his aggression with fear!! it’s much less friendly when it comes to anxiety the way i interpret it, and i imagine that has to do with how much more assertive [for lack of a better word] anxiety is compared to fear. i would also absolutely love to see more of them going at each other, just because i don’t think anxi would let him turn her into a running gag like he’s done with fear, and i really want to see how much that would affect their dynamic! you are right that there probably isn’t going to be any physical altercations but i think shouting matches between them would still be very fun to watch
also!!!! he has been shown to be less violent in the second film compared to the first!!!!!!! and that is a metaphor for riley maturing as she grows up!!!!!!!! thank you for pointing that out because i’ve seen people complain about that saying that it’s out of character. why would we expect an 11 year old’s anger and a 13 year old’s anger to act the same lmao?? i do think [translation: hope] they’ll start leaning into more of the coworker dynamics the emotions all have as riley grows up and her mental state starts to stabilize. i think the only reason anxiety lashed out so hard in the second film was because she was extremely new to hq and, if she was there long enough beforehand to herself get accustomed to dissenting opinions, the entire film would have never happened lmao
i love when my art gets people talking everyone please continue posting paragraphs in your reblogs it’s the best feeling in the world to me ❤️
^^^^^^^^^ALL OF THE ABOVE^^^^^^^^^
Additionally, this is very funny to me, because my understanding of my own emotions is that my Anger has SWAPPED feelings for my Anxie and my Fear from canon Anger XD
In other words, Fury prefers Poppy over Fright XD Fury and Poppy are actually really good friends!
Meanwhile my Anger straight up simps for my Fear lol.
I just had a thought: Riley’s Anxiety should be entitled to bite Anger at least once. ☝️🤓
@nnytann aww thanks :)
Eight films??? That’s a wild amount of planning ahead. If they continue to make a new one every eight years, that’s enough IO movies to last a lifetime :v
I will say, IO is one of Pixar’s only IPs that actually lends itself well to a long list of sequels. Each new sequel can happen at any stage of Riley’s life, like the tribulations of university, getting her first job, a preschool prequel, marriage, maybe having kids, retirement, the heat death of the universe. If Pixar was smart, after doing everything possible with Riley, they’d then treat the IP as an anthology where sequels feature the minds of different people. BAM! That’s an endless sequel cheat code as long as they’re all well written. It can be any new character from anywhere in the world (think about the emotional cultural context potential!). Personally, I’d kill to see more of Jordan’s emotions. He’s got memories scattered everywhere and a dozen screens in there that boy for sure has ADHD.
BUUUT this is the same company who’s about to release Toy Story 5 (imo, the first three are the only ones that make sense) sooooo, even though I’d be excited to see a bunch of IO sequels, I’m not too hopeful most of them will be gooood 😬. I’m not someone who hate watches, but I’m obsessed enough with IO that I’d make the exception and still watch potentially bad IO sequels not matter how horrid they might end up being; because I’d have fun picking apart lore contradictions, botched characterization, or unfortunate metaphors*.
But also YEEES I would love more shorts!! I crave The Office-inspired mind workplace drama and shorts are the best format for that. They made the Mind Candy shorts to help promote the first movie, and I’m still sad they didn’t make more for IO2.
And more spin-offs please! Dream Productions was pretty good, and I get it was mostly made to promote IO2, but c’moooooon wanna see more seasons showing off other parts of Riley’s mind! Epiphany Bay was scrapped from IO2 but cmon it’s right there!! You could made a Deadliest Catch parody with that! What is even the point of Disney Plus existing if not for tons of IP spin-offs such as this? Missed opportunity I say.
* Y’know how the antagonist of Toy Story 4 believed her broken voice box kept her from being loved by a kid, and then stole Woody’s and proceeded to be loved by a kid, and audiences glocked that as an unfortunate “disabled people need to be fixed” metaphor? I’m talking something like that. IO could mess up on that level by like, introducing a new emotion and the plot demanding “this one is evil actually, stick them in a bottle and banish them forever”. Basically anything that would make Richard Schwartz shake his head in disapproval lol. If Woody can choose to abandon his kid, I won’t be surprised if a IO sequel similarly completely undermines its own themes. I wouldn’t shut up about such a blunder ever :v
@sequoia-draws Y’know what, I like your positivity. I retract my previous statement.

LETS FUCKIN GOOOOOOOOOOO
The Moodsters Rabbit Hole
So I was bored one day and in my vain attempt to search the internet to find a knock off Inside Out movie to ironically enjoy, I find out that one does not exist. Vídeo Brinquedo, the studio behind the critically memed Ratatoing, has truly forsaken me, and alas, I can only dream. Instead of finding a rip off Inside Out movie, I ended up finding something that accused Inside Out of ripping off it, I'm talking suing. Turned out to be just as interesting.
hey i said this in a group chat earlier and honestly it fucks, so i’m gonna post it here too
Feel disgusted by something? Don’t immediately act on it. Deconstruct your disgust!
Be just a little curious about it. Why do you feel disgusted by something? What is it about the thing that disgusts you? Is it the whole that disgusts you, or just a part? Do you feel disgusted because you’re supposed to? Has someone told you to feel disgusted? Are you just disgusted because something looks unfamiliar to you? Do other people seem disgusted or are there people opposing your disgust (or do they, on the flipside, like it?). Is there a cultural context you might be missing? More importantly, could there be biases like racism, sexism, classism, homo- or trans-phobia at play? Is the object of your digust actually causing harm? Does someone benefit from your disgust politically?
Disgust is a powerful emotion, but one that deserves a lot of self-reflection. It’s easily weaponised and often deeply flawed.
…is this supposed to apply to finding wet moldy produce in the back of the fridge, because I don’t see how, and if it isn’t supposed to apply to that, how are users supposed to tell when to use it?
Mould is an excellent place to go to talk about the application of interrogated disgust. There are a lot of cases were foods are intentionally laced with mould for the flavour it produces. We control rot and mould in a lot of ways in food - kimchi, stilton, sour cream, they’re all produced by allowing things to rot in specific ways. And some ways are more blatently obvious than others! You can look at stilton and see the green penicillin moulds used to create it, whilst you might look at bread and go ‘this isn’t going off’ - but yeasts are creating alcohol and CO2 inside the bread, which is a sort of spoilage.
In relation to food in the back of the fridge, absolutely throw it out. You’re not harming anyone by not wanting to eat food you know is past its best. But there are cultures who ferment foods in ways we might immediately balk at because your brain connects the mould in your fridge and the sensible 'probably not good to eat’ warning with something harmless, and that’s the danger of disgust.
You might genuinely find them disgusting. Icelanders can do what they want, nothing about kæstur hákarl (fermented greenland shark)* appeals to me and I think I’m fine in saying I’m disgusted by it. All theirs.
But, you can see how this could be weaponised, yeah? There are plenty of cultures and peoples where 'they’re disgusting, vermin-like’ were used as legitimate reasons to oppress and destroy. In that case, their food - harmless and controlled as the spoilage might be - might be used as evidence to prove their point UNLESS you interrogate your initial gut reaction to their fermented foods.
Back to our questions - Does the person telling you about the fermented foods have an agenda? Yes, they do, bigotry. Is your unfamiliarity playing in? Yeah, you’ve never actually tasted the food, you don’t know what it’s like. Is there cultural context you’re missing? Might be! Again, in the case of kæstur hákarl, Iceland is a hard place to grow food and you make edible what you can. Has someone told you to feel disgusted? Yes! Do other people disagree with the speaker? Yes - the culture that created the food think it’s swell!
In this case, you might want to hold back on acting on your disgust. There’s enough rhetorical evidence here to suggest it might be displaced.
(* I’m using kæstur hákarl as an example because the sort of strongly fermented fish products scandinavians make are a good example of food you might not want to eat that doesn’t have any other strongly anti-Scandinavian things attatched to it. I can discuss a theoretical here in a way that means I don’t have to walk into someone’s pre-existing biases. White Scandinavians don’t have to worry about it, no-one is actually using kæstur hákarl to oppress Icelanders.)
I had things like kink culture, purity culture ect. in my mind when I wrote the original post, and you might be able to see now how weaponised disgust is used against fandom and kinksters. A gut-level disgust is what drives a lot of homophobia and transphobia too, when you scratch down deep enough.
I hope that gives you some more context on why I wrote what I did and how you might apply it to the real world!
Watching Elio on opening day brb
Mild spoilers below since I’m talking about themes and the first act of the movie.
It’s a cute movie about finding out you’re not alone and reconnecting with family IN SPACE. Though I can already anticipate YouTube animation reviewers calling it mid because of this simplicity.
None of us are immune to nostalgia, she’s a powerful bitch; it’s easy to get rose tinted glasses over past Disney and Pixar films like (the original) Lilo & Stitch and Wall•E. But, what those two films do have is the systemic social commentary (Lilo and Stitch has themes of colonialism and child protective services, and Wall•E has themes of environmental degradation and reliance on mega corporations for convenience) that Elio lacks. My expectation that there’d be mature themes appropriate for a family movie (something Disney and Pixar used to do more of) is most likely going to make Elio wildly described as a mediocre Pixar movie if that ends up happening.
My only other critique is most scenes were more fast paced than I’d like. I wish the pacing and choreography could’ve focused more on the environment of the Connectiverse facility. It looks like such a fun place to explore, especially in the first act when Elio was getting aquatinted with it. That scene could’ve been the action of a registration process in a luxurious garden office full of excited new colleagues or a visit to his new fancy condo full of high end alien amenities like blorp snack bars and a floating glow pool and all sorts of other eye candy while meeting his new neighbors. The montage we got instead felt too quick for me, especially since it’s the whole reason Elio is motivated to stay there.
Cute movie, loved the magma warlock space worms. 7/10.
Y’know if Fear is going to have an outfit named Flight, she should also have a weapon named Fight. Now I’m sitting here wondering what the ideal defensive weapon to base it off could be. Or better yet, what safety equipment could be used to bludgeon someone with.
@spyglassrealms Baseball bat is a high contender for me even though I’ve never played baseball before. Though a weaponized baseball bat would be more of Joy and Anger’s thing since it has both playful and mad max vibes.
@1tsstargaze59 Umbrellas are fun! I love unconventional weapons. But they’re more Gloom’s thing. Y'know, b'cuz water.
@strangestcase I’m a little torn between a flail or a long ax or even a Morningstar! But I feel like those are too basic?
I’m thinking more of safety equipment that just so happens to also be dangerous if you want to use it as a weapon. What if an OSHA violation was a weapon
I should play more video games
I also carry my dread in a crown royal baggie.
Job hunting once again :')
I GOT MY FIRST JOB EVER FINALlY

Main reason I’ve yet to finalize the Broken Yolk Galaxy alien sophant homeworlds is the pressure I’ve put on myself to design geologically realistic plate tectonics, ocean current systems, and accurately placed rainfall distribution and biomes. I’ve put this pressure on myself because I graduated with a minor in geology. I wanna make Randy Marsh proud of me.

Rest: Another year of Dee feeling overworked lol. Maybe this year we’ll find out how to give him a break.
Hobby: Dee and Joy recently took up a new hobby of growing a Fun Flower every week. It grows every day after I take the time to relax with a fun activity like a video game or a good book instead of endlessly trying to spend all day being productive or getting stuck in endless internet algorithms. What appears to be the disk floret of the flower is actually a ball of dough stuffed with a sweet ad zesty yellow filling that bakes wonderfully into a pie.
This was a lot of fun! I wish I could’ve gotten to draw more, but September this year was pretty hectic! I do look forward to doing more next year ✨
