I just love this episode so god damn much! Just gonna word vomit all of my favorite things:
1) The fact that Danny is a chaperone at one of Grace’s Aloha Girls retreats is ADORABLE. I was in Indian Princesses (now Adventure Princesses) and it was one of the best parts of my childhood. Going camping with my dad and doing this kind of stuff was a great way to bond. Makes me wonder about the other activities Grace and Danny would have done with the troupe. We did a lot of crafts, ice cream socials, camp-outs, and singing. So picture Danny doing all of that with Grace
2) Danny invited Steve to come on his camping trip with him. There was a conversation in which Danny goes up to him and asks him to join him on this camp-out and maybe teach the girls something about survival. I can just picture Steve’s super excited, dopey grin and then teasing Danny about how much he needs him or something and Danny being all fake angry at the teasing and walking away with a smile on his face.
3) Okay but you know that Steve was so excited by the invite that he did everything he could to make his presentation interesting and educational (even though yes he does go overboard). How much did he prepare before hand? It’s adorable. Freaking adorable. Gotta impress Danno. Gotta make this good so that Grace has fun and learns stuff. If Grace is happy Danno will be happy and I gotta make Danno happy.
4) Do you think Steve shared a tent with Danny and Grace? Or did Steve and Danny share a tent and Grace shared with another Aloha Girl? Did the two of them have separate tents? Just saying I only counted 6 tents and there are 10 girls and 3 chaperones (Danny, Steve, and the group leader). There’s gotta be a couple of tents with three people in it. If I were Grace I’d wanna share with the other girls cause that’s more fun so I’m thinking two tents with 3 girls, two tents with 2 girls, one tent with Steve and Danny, and that blue tent is the troupe leaders
Here’s the campsite. I see 6 tents (two of the reds ones overlap in the next pics):
5) Danny gets shot trying to protect Lucy. (I love Danno whump okay? Sue me)
6) Both Steve and Grace run to him when he falls to the ground and you just KNOW this is the moment Steve is prepared to kill this man. He hurt Danny. He’s scaring Grace and the other girls. He’s got a gun to Lucy’s head. He’s a dead man.
7) These moments of pain Danny shows cause we don’t often see it in tv shows. It’s always that they get hurt and for the rest of the episode they’re fine. (plus as I established earlier I love whump so yay pain face!)
8) The way Steve is with Lucy when they trudging through the jungle is so great. He’s so good with kids and does everything he can to make she’s safe and not scared. He’s the best dad.
9) I love when we get to see how damn good at his job Danny is. All the moments like in this episode when he takes charge and solves things like a badass. That’s my fav. I love that stuff. Let Danno be the badass cop more often.
10) Oh yeah this blue t-shirt that Danny is wearing? He keeps it. He keeps the shirt with a bullet hole and blood on it. Proof? Here:
I headcanon that Danny kept it because he’s still strapped for money (at this time in the show he’s still floating between apartments because he can’t afford one that isn’t a deathtrap) and he doesn’t want to waste money on clothing if he doesn’t have to. So he keeps the shirt because he can clean the blood out of it and so what if there’s a hole in the sleeve? Who cares? It’s a perfectly good god dammit!
11) Grace’s “You can do anything” is so fucking adorable. Danny really is like superman to her. She does Aloha Girls because “it makes her brave just like you”. I’m dead.
