Performance art has been a challenge to viewers and artists in the past because it is hard to define what the performance means as an artwork. However, since there is no limitation on length of time, material, or subject, it can be expressed more freely than the static artworks. The performance art has been presented from the past to the present and now it is widely spread out as a famous type of art. I believe it is an interesting and popular subject because it can be many different forms such as theater, film, concert, and any type of art that presents to the audience.
The Artist is Present
It was very interesting to watch her performance and listen to her stories. I did not get a whole point of her art or the meaning of her performance, but just looking at what she’s performing gives a lot of thoughts and feelings even though she doesn’t talk or make any motion during her performance. The moment when Marina meets Ulay at the performance was definitely meaningful and touching because the film was telling about the relationship between them. It was weird, but somehow very emotional experience just watching her film.

project #4: Vanishing and Becoming.
I thought this video is a good example of vanishing and becoming because it uses black color as a background and many different neon colors and lights to emphasize the contours of the human body. I thought the music matches with this video so I cut it to make it one minute long to import.

“Surreal Fantasy Night” by Kathy Fornal
Whenever I am sick or having a down day, there is one movie I always turn to to make my day a little brighter: Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I haven’t seen any gifs from it before (though no doubt they are out there to find) so I decided to take my feel-good movie and make gifs from some of my favorite scenes so other people could use them to brighten up their days as well, and hopefully make a few more people interested in watching it. It always does the trick for me. Here’s to having a happier, brighter day!
