Over the holiday I faded to the background as I analyzed my family, but especially my grandmother Faye Henry, who through known and unknown ancestry could identify as “creole”. As this has always been an apparent thing in my family due to our foods, music, beliefs, “who’s that white person in the family tree” remarks and language. I wanted to pay attention to the vibrant and sometimes dark personalities that come about in this gumbo pot of blackness. #blackandwhitephotography #creole #country #blackness
