Athena bounced up to Simon in the courthouse. Today was her day off. Her hair was in bunches instead of it's usual ponytail and perched on her head were two bunny ears. She wore a playboy bunny outfit to go with it and was carrying a basket of eggs. "Happy Easter Simon!" She grinned, offering one of the chocolate eggs to him. (heartsxdiscord)

On his way out of the court room, Blackquill was quiet, until he noticed some sort of hub-bub occurring in the foyer. Glancing up, he was quickly realising what the source of the commotion was. If Metis could see this right now, she would be turning in her grave. 

Ignoring the egg in favour of removing his coat, Simon quickly wrapped it around Athena’s shoulders before proceeding to get out his phone. “We will be taking a taxi back to your place so you can change into something more acceptable, young lady.”

Character Development Day Two - Character's Most Prominent Feature

Blackquill has two particularly distinctive features: his hair and the bags beneath his eyes. When he was initially incarcerated, the much younger Blackquill often found himself harassed by some of the other inmates. Certainly he could usually get out of situations with his words, but the fact others wouldn't leave him be was quite stressful. Not surprisingly. During one of his sister's visits, she jokingly suggested he 'do something about that boyish hairstyle', and he did think about rebuffing the jab, until he realised that she may have been onto something. As such - with a little bit of coercion - he managed to get hold of some bleach to create those distinctive white streaks, making him appear older. Certainly it didn't stop all the scuffles that came his way, but the added benefit of his more aged appearance did diminish the number of incidences.

The ponytail was also grown during prison, though mostly by accident. Blackquill didn't really notice the lengthening of his hair until he realised the necessity of some manner of keeping it out of his face. His hair is naturally quite thick, and has a natural wave to it, which is why that mane of his is so large and fluffy. However, about a year after being proven innocent by Wright and co., he decides to be rid of it: a symbolic shedding of his past, and the fact it was too much hassle to maintain. The white streaks he has become rather attached to though, so those he maintains.

As for the shadows beneath his eyes, it is no surprise that these are due to sleepless nights in prison, always keeping vigilant or because of nightmares of his impending demise. As such, he's quite a light sleeper and can doze off as and when needed. After the Phantom's capture and his return to society, he slowly begins to regain a healthier sleeping pattern, and so the bags slowly start to recede. His light sleeping habits don't ever really leave him though.

Character Development Day One - Relationship with Parents

Simon and Aura came from a particularly well off British family, and to say their childhood was particularly warm and happy would be a bold faced lie. Both attribute this down to their mother, Persephone Blackquill. While she wasn't cruel, she was far more concerned with how her peers and fair weather friends at social gatherings perceived her. As such, she often forced high expectations on her children and followed hollow criticisms about them rather than thinking about their happiness. This is partly why when he was younger, Simon was a lot more soft spoken. However, she was the one who encouraged him to pursue a career in law. Whether this was because he would be good at it and it was his passion, or because  it would give her something to brag about, only she'll ever know. 

His father, Hubert Blackquill, often went along with his wife's ideas, though it was obvious he did care about Simon and Aura. It was safe to say that Simon was a lot closer to his father than his mother, since he allowed him to be himself rather than another's ideals. Being a successful cognitive behavioural therapist, Hubert taught Simon a lot about psychology, which is where he realised the potential for using it in court to protect those who needed protecting. His father was proud his son, and it was obvious to anyone, despite his tendency to let his wife do the talking for him. 

Simon initially stayed in contact with his father when he followed in Aura's footsteps and moved to America - the two having decided to start afresh without the shadow of their family name looming over them - but less so with his mother. That communication stopped after UR-1, and even after his name was cleared, contact has not been resumed. Simon can only imagine what his mother has said about him, and he doesn't want to face the disappointment he assumes his father feels.

“Ah, you’re right—! Oh no, what’ve I done?!” And his hands would cradle his head at the momentous mistake he had made by leaving the crime scene without a detective —eyes wide and mouth slightly agape in the shock of such a realization.

"I should get back down to that crime scene!” He announced, though such a conclusion was obviously what the prosecutor was suggesting. Fulbright rose from his chair, practically running for the door. It was a few moments before he returned, a sheepish grin on his face. "So— What’s the evidence you want me to look for, sir? If the underwear wasn’t the decisive, case-turning evidence I thought it would be?”

Fulbright could be so sickeningly predictable sometimes, but it didn't bother Blackquill that much: it simply meant he could have the other doing his job with more speed and precision. 

Arms folded as he leaned back in his chair, Blackquill thought for a few brief seconds before he answered, "I want you to use luminol spray over the crime scene. Anything that has a reaction I want you to dust for prints; it might lead us to our murder weapon." According to the autopsy reports, the victim had been killed through blunt force trauma, though they had yet to recover the weapon. Perhaps it had been left behind at the scene? The dark gaze locked on Fulbright once more as he added, "A murder weapon with the flowering harlot's fingerprints on it would be much more decisive evidence than that pair of undergarments."

Athena blushed a little at the comments of bluffing. “Yes, well… Spend enough time around Mr Wright in the courtroom and you tend to pick up on his techniques as your own. At least he gets the right results in the end” She played with her hair, a small smile on her face as she heard the amount of pride in his voice. It was clear to anyone, let alone her with her finely tuned hearing.

"Well, if you need someone to talk to or to distract you, I’m only a phone call away and I’d be more than happy to hang out with you, Simon" Athena smiled at him and took one of his hands in a friendly, reassuring gesture. "You know that we at the Wright Anything Agency will do anything to seek the truth and in the process, prove our clients innocence"

Feeling the gentle touch from the girl who was practically a younger sibling to him, Simon glanced up again, bags still very evident beneath his eyes. Athena was still the caring girl he remembered, even with her new confidence. "Are you sure? I was certain you wouldn't want to hang around with an old man." His words were more of jest than his true feelings, but he didn't allow her to dawdle on the thought. 

"However... conversation and distraction may be something I need, I suppose." Glancing to the clock once more, the prosecutor finished his cup of tea before standing, "I have enough time to walk you back to your office, if you so wish."

The guard seemed very uneasy, and it was clear why: to say the prosecutor sat behind the detention center glass was 'not impressed' was putting it mildly. Blackquill wasted no time in getting to the point of his displeasure when he finally caught sight of Fulbright, "I do hope the explanation you wish to present me as to why I am prosecuting an orca is a satisfactory one, Fool Bright."

He might have agreed to take the case, didn't mean Blackquill had to be happy about it.

So the purpose of this meme is to give a little info on your muses without having to rely on others to fill your ask with meme questions. I know how disappointing it can be to come back to an empty ask so I wanted to create a meme that anyone and everyone can do (mun and muse). The rules are simple, you do not need to be tagged to fill out the questions, but once you have you must reblog and tag 10 of your followers to spread the love (as well as add a question of your own to the bonus section). "A man I met in the clink once told me this: only a heart that wishes to be taken advantage of lays information at another's feet." Guess Blackquill doesn't want to share.

"Idiots prattling on with hollow catch-phrases."

"The sound of the shishi odoshi (bamboo deer scarer)."

"...loud, obnoxious noises, especially those such as alarms."

"On my left side."

There's a slight smirk from the prosecutor, "Perhaps you should move onto the next question  and cease wasting my time."

7. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

"....that I could have done something more."

8. What do you keep on your nightstand?

"My mobile phone, hair ties and a hair brush."

9. Have you ever been in love?

“Have you ever ceased asking pointless questions?" 

10. What it your romantic orientation?

"Individuals who have a semblance of competence."  11. Do you prefer to be warm or cold? "Warm, though I can deal with cooler temperatures."
