the force of the kick, even as flimsy as it was played, was enough force to bring any normal man to his knees, writhing with pain. out of commission and forced into the fetal position until their pain subsided to stand at last when the shame of their fall left them. albedo, however, was no normal man. though pain shot through his leg like it would any other, he remained standing. wincing slightly before it faded. transforming into a light titter of laughter. the pain was just too sweet. he fancied taking a step back as would be a body’s normal reaction. to avoid being struck again, but he was curious as to what she really had in her. what pain could she truly show him?

“ you should’ve woken me up, damnit. “ she’d start, jostling her hair in frustration. it wasn’t that she was blaming her for her reoccurring nightmares ; far from it, in fact. they’d long ago come to an agreement that they wouldn’t mention them. they wouldn’t even acknowledge them. it made dealing with them far easier. but it had been her turn to take watch, and for manah to rest. even if she’d suffered the brunt of the injuries the two of them shared, they’d already been running thin on time to rest, as it were. she had to be fucking exhausted. “ tch . . . whatever. any sign of the big, red fucker? “ she’d inquire, brow knitting in annoyance. grigori. the former bandit chief had plenty a score to settle with that son of a bitch ; and she wouldn’t allow her body nor mind true rest until she’d exacted every single shred of revenge that burned inside of her.

kainé gathered jagged dual blades into her hands, regardless, pushing herself to stand before pacing their surroundings, eyes alert now that they’d been cleared of their previous grogginess. she was irritated, now -- beyond such, maybe. the situation sucked. the weather sucked. her injuries sucked. everything was just pissing her the fuck off, and she hadn’t even been awake for a solid five-minutes. “ rest up. once the sun starts rising, i’ll wake you. “ tongue drew across soft, stained lips ; bandaged knuckles hoisting one of her blades over a pale shoulder. “ once we get to the capital, maybe we can take a few days off---. “ she’d offer, murmuring toward the tail end of her proposal. they didn’t really have time for such things, but even being arisen -- they were in need of breaks, as well.
