Morning cuddles
I admit, this is how the morning ended up. I let Happy sleep with me on the bed. She seemed so delighted that she curled up next to me, and did not move at all, looking at me all the time. So sweet.
i call this piece âwow how is this even uglier than the other one this is bullshitâÂ
you know this one
For the record, when I took this job, in 2011, I made one stipulation. Thatâs it. I just said⊠I swear to God, I said, âI will not do this film if you will not guarantee me one thing. You have to guarantee me there will be no love triangle.â And there wasnât. For the whole time I shot. For a year of shooting there was no love triangle, and then, I came back for reshoots in 2012 and they were like, âWell, we made a couple of alterations to some scenes and we added a couple more scenes,â and all of a sudden manifested a love triangle before my very eyes and the film was shot and Iâm in and thereâs no getting out and there was no escaping it.

WOULD ANY SANE PERSON think dumpster diving would have stopped Hitler, or that composting would have ended slavery or brought about the eight-hour workday, or that chopping wood and carrying water would have gotten people out of Tsarist prisons, or that dancing naked around a fire would have helped put in place the Voting Rights Act of 1957 or the Civil Rights Act of 1964? Then why now, with all the world at stake, do so many people retreat into these entirely personal âsolutionsâ? Part of the problem is that weâve been victims of a campaign of systematic misdirection. Consumer culture and the capitalist mindset have taught us to substitute acts of personal consumption (or enlightenment) for organized political resistance. An Inconvenient Truth helped raise consciousness about global warming. But did you notice that all of the solutions presented had to do with personal consumptionâchanging light bulbs, inflating tires, driving half as muchâand had nothing to do with shifting power away from corporations, or stopping the growth economy that is destroying the planet? Even if every person in the United States did everything the movie suggested, U.S. carbon emissions would fall by only 22 percent. Scientific consensus is that emissions must be reduced by at least 75 percent worldwide. Or letâs talk water. We so often hear that the world is running out of water. People are dying from lack of water. Rivers are dewatered from lack of water. Because of this we need to take shorter showers. See the disconnect? Because I take showers, Iâm responsible for drawing down aquifers? Well, no. More than 90 percent of the water used by humans is used by agriculture and industry. The remaining 10 percent is split between municipalities and actual living breathing individual humans. Collectively, municipal golf courses use as much water as municipal human beings. People (both human people and fish people) arenât dying because the world is running out of water. Theyâre dying because the water is being stolen. âŠPersonal change doesnât equal social change.

"Sheâs bright, strong, capable and also a fierce skeptic. Scully isnât a skeptic to the point of blindness, sheâs willing to stretch her beliefs when something proves her wrong. Without Scully, Mulderâs functionality would be severely reduced. She rescues him several times when heâs gotten himself in far over his head. He canât turn off the drive in his brain to find things out for long enough to keep himself safe. Scully, howeverâher drive is to be rational, careful and competent.â â (x)
