((So, another setback due to a technological tragedy. :| The hard drive on my desktop computer died suddenly, and I had no chance to save anything. So unless I can figure out a way to still get into it- and I'm relying on a friend who's had this happen multiple times to him- I've lost literal decades of stuff I've saved for RP purposes. Gifs, reaction images, bookmarks, fic WIPs...not to mention all the non-RP stuff I've saved, like fanfics, fanart, music files, personal files... It's very frustrating and discouraging. So please bear with me while I try to regroup and recoup. It's not all bad news, at least. My PC is at least working again with a new, upgraded hard drive with more space to store stuff- and I will be reguarly saving stuff to my portable hard drive. Additionally, I've discovered a wonderful worldbuilding tool called World Anvil. And holy crap, guys, it's friggin' AWESOME! You should check it out if you're into worldbuilding; it even has a category specifically for fanfiction! It's got comprehensive templates to make a wiki-like thing so you can keep track of everything from characters to history to all the other nitty gritty stuff you need to expand your headcanon into an entire universe!))

“And Repids was a general in Hunters who could have done any of that prior to his death.” The response was shot back in a far harsher tone than Cinnamon really intended, and almost immediately she found herself blanching and looking down, ashamed. Yelling at Spider… wasn’t going to accomplish anything, even if she felt… a sense of frustration with him currently. 

“… After what happened, w-we can’t really believe anything we can’t see for ourselves. I… I’m sorry… but no one would’ve believed it.” Or did believe it; she had a hard time imagining that X and Zero at least hadn’t looked into Spider’s file.

Cinnamon shifted uncomfortably, boot idly scuffing against the ground as she found herself unable to quite look up at Spider now. “I’m s-sorry…”

Spider shook his head. "Redips was Federation Army. He only hired the Hunters." If he was affected by her yelling, he didn't let it show, shrugging it off and accepting she had a right to be angry. He knew very well he wasn't the best of people, who didn't make the best of decisions sometimes. "Yeah, that's part of why I didn't turn up sooner. I'd rather like to avoid gettin' shot up or sliced up before I could explain." He tilted his head slightly, watching her, then stepped forward, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Hey," he said gently, smiling at her. "It's okay."

Hiding a wince at Cinnamon’s actions, Spider shoved down the remainder of his anger. “That Federation f- creep was a damn good actor. And it wasn’t like I was around to argue.” …wait…what? Spider stared at her, mentally playing back through what Cinnamon had just said to be sure he’d heard right. “Zero…what?” There was no way that could be right. Spider still remembered the tantrum Zero had thrown when X tried to first introduce them. And as for when Spider had taken that shot for Zero from Shadow…well, for all Zero had been more amiable afterward, he still hadn’t struck Spider as the type to get attached that quickly. That was X’s schtick, after all.

“He cried…”

Cinnamon pressed her lips together, hands wringing together tightly as she repeated her words. Something about the way Spider was reacting made her suspected that perhaps it wasn’t the best thing to tell him, but it was the truth. He had done it in private and she wasn’t sure that anyone outside of X actually knew. 

Well. X and herself, and the fact that she knew was only accidental, the result of her stumbling upon the two having a hushed conversation that she had hastily fled from.

“I don’t– how long have you been… alive? H-how come you haven’t come back to any of us? I-if you really are innocent, wouldn’t you wanna prove that?”

What's the cutest thing you've seen a human do?

Cute to me, or just cute in general~?

Adult humans ain’t all that cute, in my opinion. ‘Cept for the ones that ain’t afraid to be derps.

The little ones, though...those are the cute critters. Cutest thing I’ve seen one of them do...it’s a tie between the girl that punched Zero in the nose, and the boy who insisted on braidin’ Cedar’s“Sephiroth’s” hair.

Both of these events happened the same day.

Sonari pawed at Spider's leg. When she had his attention, she gave him a daisy she was holding by her tail.

Spider was a bit surprised by the sudden!dragon, but he wasn’t going to complain.

What he was going to do, was accept the daisy with a smile and a tip of his hat. “Why, thank you. Ain’t often I get such a rare gift~”

About a week after her run-in with Spider, Agile!Taloura returned. She was much more civil looking now that she didn't feel like she was constantly starving. She hadn't intended to find Spider again but when she had, she glanced away; sorta embarrassed. She couldn't blush but she certainly cringed at the memory of chasing him around. Eventually, she uttered "Sorry about last week. I... wasn't quite myself."

While Spider had been expecting Taloura to return eventually- he firmly believed in the ‘you haven’t seen the last of me!’ line of thought- he wasn’t expecting her to come find him, even unintentionally.

He didn’t jump when he noticed her- he was too aware of his surroundings for that- but he did blink a couple times before speaking. “Wasn’t quite yourself, huh?” he repeated, eyeing her. “Ain’t that usually the case with any viral infection?”

He can be forgiven for being wary, given the previous circumstances. But he’s going to remain civil as long as she does.

That made Tal blink in mild shock. “You were still near enough to keep track of me then…?” She uttered a light chuckle and continued “Guess I should be grateful you’re no Counterjiit. I wouldn’t want to have to wake up one day to my head being welded together a second time.” Speaking of which, Taloura had a barely visible scar running across this frame’s head. It was old enough where most of it had been erased by her nanites but if one looked closely, they could still see a slightly off-colored, vertical line. A thought occurred to Taloura and she voiced it with concern. “In any case, I hope the Eurasia incident was the last Sigma war here. It wasn’t in the World Between. In total, we had eight wars and we still keep an eye out for possible Sigma revivals. Though I’m sure part of it’s because of alternates.”

He shrugged. "This is my my home. My neighbors. I had to make sure the humans and 'roids livin' here weren't gonna be in danger if you went on a rampage. Lucky for me, you didn't, since the last time I tried to play hero, it didn't turn out so well for me." He smirked briefly, before growing serious at the rest of the subject. "We had two more Sigma wars after the crash, but the last one seems to have been the last one so far. 'Least he ain't been seen or heard from in my lifetime."

This fucking Redips bullshit again. “Okay, first of all,” the bounty hunter growled. “I didn’t betray anyone. I fuckin’ died in Gimialla for you guys. ‘Cept that Redips fucker snuck in after y'all left and copied my data.” He stopped himself, remembering who he was talking to, and took a slow breath to calm down. It wasn’t Cinnamon’s fault, and he certainly wasn’t going to take his anger out on her. And she had a right to be upset, after the shit that fucker had pulled. “…sorry ‘bout that.”

Cinnamon flinched and inched back, arms raised up against her chest in a vain gesture to offer herself some level of protection. Not that she was weak - in truth the gentle nurse was just as strong as the companions she had fought alongside in the final battle against Redips - but in her mind she would always be somehow weaker than everyone else. After all, she was just a child who was only good for healing-!

Even though she had stopped being a child a long, long time ago.

“… I… I don’t understand… E-everyone said it was you… N-no one wanted to believe it but…” She shifted nervously, awkwardly, as she tried to work through the thoughts running through her mind.

“… Zero cried when you died. … He…. he wasn’t okay with what happened.”

™Are they possessive?

Yes and no. He’s not possessive of people, because he has issues from when he was younger.

But places? Hell, yes. He is very possessive of his “territory,” which consists of the city his condo is located in, and all of Gigantis. He knows everyone and everything that lives in those areas, and if an unfamiliar stranger who’s acting off enters his territory, he gets wary and suspicious until he assesses how much of a threat they may or may not be. Hello, Taloura!

That would be a difficult choice for him, because he prizes the three weapons he has. But if it came down to it, he’d choose his weapons cards.
