mors tua, vita mea
whopraysoverus:
Sometimes he stands there watching him. Sometimes he wonders about the tissue of his body. He would have enjoyed to take both Abigail and Will but the possibility of that was impossible. So he remained with Will, his other half of a charred soul, a damaged thread that could not be attached anymore.
“That is not always true, Will. That is not always the thread of truth that you should be holding onto.” His tone was even, features completely still.
“Sometimes those who run are the ones who always survive the end.”
“Thought running was a cowards game. A constant back and forth, like swinging of a pendulum of a clock. Counting down the destruction. Ticking time bomb.”
He started walking along the edge of the back walk. It was trim. Not at all like the wooded area he had lived in. He felt hollowed. He felt cold inside. He swallowed harshly and turned to look at Hannibal again. He didn’t want to be here.
“Or can cowards win?”
We Burnt Down-
The scream sent a chill up her spine. Part of her was grateful. Grateful it wasn’t her. Grateful that it was one more person that didn’t have to die at her hands. Another part of her was worried. Worried that she wasn’t putting on a good enough show for the viewers. She wasn’t entirely certain if that was part of the gameplay but she thought it must. If somehow it would help them in the end they needed to put on the best show possible for whomever might be watching.
Them. She knew that she couldn’t keep thinking that way. It had to be about her, it had to be about her ultimate survival. That was the whole point wasn’t it? Erin should’ve known better. She should’ve known that no matter what happened she would find the one person who wouldn’t kill her at first sight, she would team up with someone and it would ultimately make her weak. She should’ve stayed alone. Her father knew that about her, but it seemed she had realised it far too late. Erin didn’t know what would happen in the end, she didn’t want to think about it. For now it had to be them versus the others, the rest would sort itself out eventually.
“You’re right. We should.” Erin finally agreed softly. There were risks down there, but hopefully it would also reap some rewards. Only time would tell. She knew that it would only take one misstep for her to be just another number. Erin wasn’t even sure how it would be explained to her family. She shook her head slightly as she tried to clear the thoughts from her head. Erin couldn’t allow anything to cloud her judgment, her entire focus needed to be on surviving and doing whatever was necessary to ensure that happened.
“We should get you another weapon. Something you can hold with that bandage.” Her mind began to shift from the brief flash of emotions back into survival mode. Together they were better off, at least for now. Protecting him was just as valuable at that point, or at least that’s the strategy she told herself in order to make what she was feeling more logical to her survival plan.
Erin returned to the table where they had discovered the weapons that had been selected for them. She hefted the axe into her hands, Erin had assumed it had been meant for her but Will wouldn’t be able to painlessly wield the knife any longer. “Take this.” She offered it out handle first. “I’ll take your knife instead.”
He hated to part with the knife. But he knew that it was for the best. Because his hand was all cut up now. And they had to be on the move. They had to kill as many as they could so that one of them could win. So he could win. For a moment after he had set the knife down on the table for her to take he stared at the ax, just stared at it.
And then slowly an image crept into his mind. Of himself raising the ax and crashing it down again and again into Erin’s head. He could taste her blood as it splattered. He could taste and feel. And he knew that she was dead.
It faded though and when he took the ax from her he lifted his eyes to her face. Studying her face, like he might have to remember. She might be the last one he killed. The last one. He felt sick already. He felt okay.
“Thank you.” Only he didn’t meet her eyes. he couldn’t bear meeting her eyes. that would hurt too much. That would be overly painful and tear at his insides, rip him apart. He felt like he was being set on fire.
“Let’s go.”
He started away from her then and back down to the stairs. He could let her down first and lock it up. Defend the stairs and let no one come up. He felt cold. he knew he could do it.
“Let’s try not to get killed. “
A vague ill suited smile.
Trip (Cont.)
His answer was reassuring, prompting a smile from her. At least he’s done this before. One of her friends had always gotten onto her for not being more in touch with the modern world but he was easy to ignore. She did it often and has for centuries now. Though this once he might have been right; it would have been helpful to have some knowledge of what she was doing beyond what she had seen in movies. The latter comment made her study him, trying to recall if she had mentioned her ability to do exactly that. Unless it was just a joke? Best not to worry about it now. “Well I haven’t. Where do we go?”
From all the places she said she had been he figured that she would know this already. So he let out a small laugh, a slight shrug of his shoulders. Maybe she did it by sea. Longer method. Not unpleasant. He wold prefer boat to plane. But there was an urgency to his job and he knew a boat wouldn’t work. “Alright. Follow me.” So he led the way. Dealing with the necessities. Five minutes until they could board the plane. But the line wasn’t long. He turned to offer her a smile. Trying to make things okay. But he didn’t know how. He was a shell of a human being. lost.
Minding It Hurts
firstxdestroy:
He does smile at the thought, the praise but quickly it is replaced by a negation of the thought.
“No, sir, I am afraid I could not live up to being better than..”he was going to mention a father but from the books he had read and the information he had stored fathers were ones that had part in the birthing process of their children. David had never been birthed. “…my creator.”
But it doesn’t seem to fit, even as he lifts the cards into his hands and a smile settles on his features. Tight, learned, expressive.
“I look forward to this game, Will.”
He gives a vague smile, unsure of what to say to David. Man. Boy. Machine. It all seems to fall in line with every action he makes. He wants to see him as human. He wants him to be apart of him, like a son is to his father. A never ending legacy. David would be a remarkable thing for that. But he feels guilty calling him a thing. Not a thing, at all. A child.
“As do I.”
He lifts his hand and drops. It’s towards the end. And he’s watching David’s face. Perfect poker face. One can’t read him even if David wanted them to. Will wishes he could.
“Show me what you got.”
It Was Inevitable - closed rp
She followed his direction, agreeing with the notion. She wasn’t going to let Jack be privy to this particular conversation. She didn’t know if she could ever think of him, or any of them for that matter, the same as before. Too much had changed, and still was changing. She would reprimand him later perhaps, despite the fact that she knew why Will had been called there with her.
She did not let go of his arm, despite the fact that she wanted to. Her legs were still shaking a little but not too noticeably. There was comfort in the strength of the muscles she could feel in his arm, despite the fact that she didn’t want comfort from him. She supposed it was best not to look a gift horse in the mouth, or whatever that stupid phrase was.
“Not in here.” She told him when they had walked through the door. Jack could have said something but she supposed he had understood that it was best to leave them alone. He was bound to be affected by this news too, for what of Bella and his own wounds? She shook her head sharply, the motion singular and quick. She didn’t want to care about how others felt, it was her life that was important.
He nodded, understanding. It was better that they go outside, somewhere. Away from here. Away from the world that had killed them, that was still slowly killing him. He should have stayed fixing boat motors at the docks for a living. That would have been so simple. Where the only dead thing he sees is a damn fish.
He walked away from her, from the room. Thinking he was leading the way. Feeling like he was just running away. Was he always going to run? He didn’t know. But sometimes he felt like it was a lot better to run. So much better to run.
“What is it?” he asked, not sure if she was even there. Standing at the end of the steps of the building. Waiting to hear a voice. It was cold out. He could see his breath. At least that told him that he was a live.
“An Identity Crisis” {Abigail & Will RP (Hannibal AU)}
Although Abigail had suggested a picture for proof, her brow wrinkled when Will spoke of having one. It was beyond unhealthy that he kept an image of the deceased so close – and in his wallet, no less – so she was sure her expression was slightly, if not fully judgmental. “Did she give it to you?” she asked. “Or did you…take it?” There was that judgement again. Perhaps it was cruel to deny a grieving man a token of his affections, but Abigail had been under the impression that he hadn’t been close to the girl. Or at least, not nearly as close as he would’ve liked to have been.
Will fished around in his wallet before handing her a picture. Uncertain, Abigail waited a moment before accepting the photograph. Turning it over in her hand, she squinted down at the warm, smiling face and felt as if her stomach had turned to ice. A pair of laughing blue eyes gazed back at her, accompanied by the smile her mother had always described as one in a million.
Was this some kind of joke?
“Did you Photoshop this?” Abigail asked, her voice strained. When Will didn’t answer right away, she snapped, “Did you doctor this?!”
Unable to look at the picture a moment longer, Abigail thrust it back into Will’s palm and backed away from him, her hands twisting and fumbling over one another as she blinked back tears. This was a joke…yes, a cruel, cruel trick Hopkins had devised as some type of hazing. He’d threatened her with this once before, but she hadn’t expected something nearly so elaborate.
“You can tell Hopkins it didn’t work,” Abigail bitterly spat. “It was clever, I’ll admit, trying to get me to question my own identity like this, but I’m immune to immature frat boy pranks. I’m disappointed that you of all people would aid in this charade.” She waved a hand. “You can go now… I’m not going to entertain this any longer.”
The more Abigail thought about it, the more certain she became. The picture didn’t even have her scar – of course it wasn’t her! How utterly ridiculous!
He felt horrible for her. Terrible She seemed broken in by the sight of what was so painfully obvious. And even if she wasn’t Abigail. Even if this really was Ava. Even if she was herself and nothing else. He wanted to take that hurt away. Make it okay. Because he knew it was his fault. There was guilt, strung about his neck. Like it was ready to hang him up.
“Ava....” he said, his voice low. Forcing out the name Ava because he didn’t want to upset her anymore than he knew that he already had. He felt as if he might’ve tore her up, broken something in her. And he didn’t know how to mend that.
Call her Ava. Not Abigail. She’s not Abigail. Abigail is dead.
He took a step towards her unsure of what she would do. Unsure if she would jump back or scream at him. But he knew that he couldn’t just leave her like this. He owed her something. Some sort of solace.
He reached out his hand and placed it on her arm. Would she push him away? He hoped not. “This isn’t some trick. I promise you that. Look it up online. You’ll see her. I don’t know who you are outside of Ava Lowry if anyone at all other than that. All i know is when I first saw you I thought....I thought everyone was wrong and she had lived.”
"Red Dragon AU" {Beverly & Will RP}
Will appeared sickly and ashen. Frowning, Beverly stopped with him out on the landing of the facility’s entrance, her arms folding as she looked up at him with her bright, perceptive eyes. He looked so tired and broken in that moment – like a lost, adrift sailor without a life raft. His next words were so strained that she had to struggle to hear them.
“Being locked up will help her,” Beverly assured Will. “Her being locked up will help everyone. You can’t seriously be trying to tell me this isn’t what she deserves.” Her eyes narrowed. “Graham, I get that you care about her – I had to watch something very similar happen with my own sister – but in the end, it’s your job to do what’s right for the people as a whole, not what’s right for your heart.” Moistening her lips, she placed her hands in her pockets. “If it makes you feel any better, I’ll make it my specific duty to make sure that prick Chilton treats her properly. I can’t be here 24/7, but I can appoint someone to check in on her.”
It was wishful thinking – all of it. To speak as though catching Abigail Hobbs was a done deal was beyond optimistic, but for once, Beverly was hopeful. As long as Will got his head in the game, the end to this song and dance would soon be over.
Of course she would have a solution. She was good at that. She was good at her job. Better than he was. Because everything worked differently from him. He knew that was what made most of the staff better. But what made him vital. Vital now. But all he wanted was to save Abigail. Protect her from what had happened to her. He wanted to reach out to her, somehow.
“She deserves...she deserves...” and there’s the blur to his eyes, there’s the spinning of the whole world around him. But he doesn’t grab onto anything for support. He takes in a deep breath and his lungs feel as if they’ve shattered. “..peace..”
And he knows that he’s said something that she will argue but he shakes his head. As if telling she doesn’t have to say anything. Nothing at all. Because he’s alright. He knows what he’s here for. He’s here to stop her. To lock her up.
“I have to make up for my mistakes. Not you, Bev.”
The road not taken
drxjackson:
Morgue. Of course it would be the morgue they would go to. When he asked that he meant the crime scene in general but could ask about that afterward. He’d need to give a description to his bosses of the one who was a possible breach in security. He wasn’t very good with bodies though. He’s seen far too many of them for an archaeologist.
Pictures set back on the desk for now, making a mental note to call Hammond about them when he was done here. At first he followed Will, then quickening his step to walk beside him. They’re about the same height now, despite Daniel being older. Head turned at the question then he laughed lightly, looking ahead once more. “Not exactly. There’s not many killings that a linguist is needed for.”
He wants to laugh, too. Because it’s a good enough joke, isn’t it? Will remembered using some of his dad’s shit jokes on Daniel when they were kids. Once or twice Daniel might have laughed at one. Common courtesy though. Will knew his jokes were shitty even back then.
“Of course not.” he said with a shake of his head. No laugh. Grim. Maybe that’s why Daniel hasn’t recognized him. He was never happy. But he was never dark, infested, he was never possessed, was he? “Don’t have a weak stomach, do you?”
Pull From The Dark
likemxths:
A smile widened on his face and he rose with the little girl in his arms, approaching Will. “Her name is Rebecca.” the baby smiled at Will and it only made Caleb smile even more. “And I think she likes you, man.”
Attachments were stupid he knew that. He knew that he shouldn’t want one. She was only a kid. But kids were the worst. The biggest responsibilities. “Babies don’t like people, Caleb. They don’t even think.”
From The Bottom Of My Soul
likemxths
His words startled her and she couldn’t wrap her head around what was happening, what he was saying. Her brows knitted together when he fell against her, her hand smoothing over his hair.
He smelled so much like blood and the salt of his tears. She wanted to tell him it was okay but her eyes kept darting towards the opened front door.
He had killed him.
Slowly her eyes were brought back to him and she gently pulled him back from her so that she could look directly at his face. He was torn, she could see that but she needed to understand.
Her own tears were filling her eyes, her bottom lip straining to quiver. Her hands lightly shook as she set one on either side of his face.
“Who, Will?” She questioned, forcing the words out even though somewhere inside of her she already knew. Somewhere inside she already knew what it was that he was saying.
Her step dad.
She shouldn’t be touching him. That was something he kept repeating to himself over and over again. She should be running from him. Moving away from him. But he wanted to reach for her, touch her, smear her with the blood. Tell her that it was all for her. Then she’d know, wouldn’t she? She’d know that he loved her?
Terrible. Stupid. Horrible. He repeated words again instead of warnings. And he wanted to tell her that he was sorry. He wanted to tell her that he regretted it. Only he knew that he couldn’t do that. He knew that he would never regret it.
And maybe, well, maybe he liked the feeling of it as well.
He lifted his hand and touched her face. The blood stained her skin. The small cuts on his and stung.
“Don’t go inside.”
Disambiguation Symphony-AU-{Will+Annie}
Annie almost laughed at how wrong her own assumption was. But given Will’s tone, she thought amusement would be a poor response. She moved towards him, but didn’t touch him again. “You had every right to be angry with them. No matter whose fault it was, it certainly wasn’t yours.”
He sucked in a breath, feeling her near. But he wanted her closer. He wanted to feel her. Too soon. He was seeking distractions every where. He’d rather not unpack his mom’s things. He’d rather not do anything but be close to Annie. He remembered how she had danced. He looked at her. “Thank you.” but it was stifled and he wasn’t sure what he was feeling. Was it really gratitude?
