Her hair is everywhere, most of it in his face. Her pillows are terrible and should probably qualify as a form of torture.

And yet Garrus doesn’t move an inch.

He just lies there, keeping his breathing slow, listening to hers soften into a deep, even rhythm against his chest.

Thane and Kolyat’s narrative symmetry where Kolyat is direct, impulsive, emotionally expressive, and as fully alive as you could ever describe someone to be contrasted against Thane’s emotional withdrawness, inner turmoil, inaction and distant observance likening him more to a ghost as a way to illustrate just how far beyond living Thane’s soul has decayed, thus, when reunited, creating a perfect balance between the values of old/new, living/dying, emotional/emotionless and showing that restoring harmony requires the coming together of the body (Kolyat) and the soul (Thane)

I also like when you see kolyat again in the hospital and at the memorial, kolyats tone and speech have toned down a bit and he even mimics thane by putting his hands behind his back it shows that thane being around was having an effect on kolyat.
