THE SANDMAN S01E06: The Sound of Her Wings
Something something switching sides from our POV depending on where they're at in their relationship

Ira Sachs' latest, The Man I Love, is a hugely emotional drama set during the AIDS epidemic.
Wow, that sounds very promising, what we'll see from Tom. I can’t wait to watch the movie.
"However, the secret talent who steals the show is Tom Sturridge. Sturridge gives a restrained and measured performance as Dennis, who deeply loves Jimmy but also struggles with his infidelity. It's through Dennis that we see the cost of the AIDS epidemic the clearest. His confrontation with Vincent proves just how aware he is of the imminent danger that their community faces. The quiet moments of him taking care of Jimmy evoke a type of love that most people can only dream of, and the sobering scene of him sorting through Jimmy's bevy of medication is a reminder of the danger they face. And, at a devastating moment in the third act, the coldness of how he is treated at a hospital when Jimmy falls ill will crush your spirit. That's not to say that Sachs' film is nothing but doom and gloom, but Sturridge plays the heart of the film. It's his best performance to date."

Prince of Stories
just started thinking about how silly being hob gadling's therapist must be. like, here's your new patient: he looks and behaves completely normal, most of the time talks about your usual human problems, but then he says something along the lines of "I haven't done that since the 1870s", "that was back when central heating wasn't invented yet", slips up and gives you a full name that you can't help but google because he does it so rarely and, oof, it's a well known theatre actor from berlin. popular in the '50s. or he talks about a place in the area that closed long before you were even born, before he could've been born. right?
you work with him, 'cause man, that guy has a lot to process and you seem to click in that therapist-patient relationship, which is great. but with each session something new comes up. strange events, new people to talk about, and each of them already dead. how many people have died around this man? spouses, partners, friends. seems like his whole family has been gone for a while too, and he's visibly pushing fifty. you can only nod and try to treat him like you normally would a grieving patient, but you can't help scratching your head and trying to solve this little curiosity.
you've thought about everything. dissociative disorders, hallucinations, vivid dreams that his psyche might be mixing up with reality, pathological lies, perhaps his mind warping reality as a way to cope... but nothing seemed to quite fit. and then, "don't lock me up because i said this," he looks at you carefully, and you know that he's either delusional, or the world is more complicated than you thought.
