DESPITE THE EARLIER JOY just being presented, red took a quick breath to sober up as she was placed back to the ground. standing straight, green eyes glanced to angry as the shorter came alongside to join the pair, listening. there was the USUAL irritation along her features, but she didn’t cut adira off.
that was as much of a sign of respect from angry that could be given. as she wasn’t one to pay mind through rambles if she didn’t trust the person providing it.
red was not prone to violence, she never sought it out. she didn’t even take up v e r b a l arguments, often standing idle while angry charged through. that didn’t mean the child was against using such measures. her fists were balled, displaying a rise in confidence along her expression, nodding her head.
when pushed, she was quite ready to get into a bit of a brawl, but being young had its disadvantages.
“was the bow your first weapon? or something else?” angry’s rise in curiosity was demonstrated at that moment, if only because she was wanting to know if she would also get stuck with a bow or if, perhaps, there was a more UNIQUE weapon she could get the chance for.
adira had long since gotten used to the long silences when she spoke to the girls. but she didn’t mind. the warrior was guilty of being a bit of a chatterbox when she got going. the children tolerated that. let her yammer on with adventure stories and tales of her past triumphs.
it was all good information to them, she had assumed.
but she was more glad to have their attention when it mattered.
“no, i didn’t pick up my first bow until i was older than you two.” adira confessed. “my first weapon was this-”
she reached into her robe and pulled out a sheathed dagger. different from the one she’d given the redhead when they met. made of metals and wood not normally found in weapons from these parts of the world. carefully carved where the shapes could still be made out. too small for adira’s large hands to hold it comfortably... but she kept it just in case she might one day have need of it again.
“the blade broke a long time ago and had to be replaced.. but this was the first weapon i ever held. got me out of plenty of tight spots.” she lowered her hand, palm opening to offer it to the dark haired child to take it from her.
