I feel like when I get annoyed of the Gallaghers, I just remember how fucked up their childhoods were. I mean these kids dealt with serious trauma throughout their childhoods, they're going to grow up to fuck up and be annoying often. Debbie's problems are just a result of the fact that her parents left her when she was very young. She's desperate to do better and doesn't know how to cope with such heavy emotional turmoil. Not to mention, Derrick's family is FUCKED up.

I very much agree with thison top of being a normal hormonal teenager, debbie has to deal with all kinds of shit and really all she wants is someone to love who will love her back

i like the show because it shows social realism at the same time it’s very entertaining. when you watch it you’re aware this is the conditions a decent amount of people around the world live in. still, it’s well written and makes me laugh. Also Joan Cusack is simply hilarious, she’s my favorite
