He said he hated to tour and I see why. Imagine helping him back to his hotel room after a concert. He is exhausted (he said in many interviews this was the case most of the time) you set him down on the couch and turn grab his things. You turn back around and you see this. Part of who Michael Jackson was, is pushing himself to the extreme. He had the highest expectations of the public placed on him from a young age. He only wanted to make the fans happy & give them shows they would love and talk about for years to come.
Imagine the internal struggle of wanting to promote the album, make your fans happy and show you care about them. Then having to keep up with the expectations placed on you. He was already a target to the media who were always trying to trash him. If he let up even a little bit they would have had a field day.
