Or when the suns in your eyes
It has arrived!
I was gonna scroll right past this but it suddenly resonated with me
I was going back and forth myself.
You can’t let a post like this just slink past you.
No but seriously as I’ve gotten older I realize more and more that although white gays do face certain levels of oppression they are still white people.....like does that make sense?
I hope this post is just a joke and I'm getting triggered by a joke. I really hope it's a joke.
Hey. I’m really sorry for triggering you, but no it’s not a joke.
I’m going to preface this by saying that I am white. So if any POC want to step in here, please do.
To respond to your tags, no you’re not supposed to be sorry for being white. Nobody’s supposed to be sorry here.
However, yes white gay people are oppressed for being gay, but we still have white privilege. We never need to be afraid of the police, be put in danger by doctors who haven’t been trained properly, called racial slurs, or face any of the challenges people of color had to face on a daily basis in society.
Yes we are oppressed on a certain level for being gay, but we are still white. Being gay doesn’t take away from our white privilege or cancel it out in any way and it is always very much there. The gay community needs to stop pretending that we can’t be racist because we know what it’s like to be oppressed, because at the end of the day we are still white and therefore we still have privilege.
Oppression isn’t a competition. The white gay community needs to stop acting like it is.
Just adding,

Sexuality: something not everyone can see
