i’ve gotten a couple of asks about how to stick to a legacy challenge, and i’ve answered one before but it was a mess of rambles i wrote at 2am. here’s a more structured version! plus, i’ve only ever stuck to one legacy, so i’m not very qualified for this 😭
if you don’t know which legacy to start out with, i think the best one to try out is the random legacy challenge. with this one, instead of playing one with all ten generations set out for you, you’ll never know what's coming!
simsrandom is the website that i use to come up with the parameters for my legacy. it gives you everything you need to follow for each generation.
i think one of the main things is getting attached to your founder. you need to be invested in the sim to make you want to play! i’ve started many gameplays before where i stop playing after a week. but with my macmahon legacy, i really started to love gael!
i made gael based off the legacy parameters that i rolled. if i wasn’t using the generator, i would never had made a sim like him!
i’ve never played the game with a mean sim before, and seeing as he rolled the ‘fighter’ parameter, he had to beat up someone every week. it really helped to build a personality for him, which i also think is important to becoming attached to a sim.
it was really fun to go for traits that i never use! it gave a new layer of entertainment to the game.
another thing is using the right mods to add lots of content to the game! there are so many game-changing mods that i really recommend to anyone starting out the challenge.

i don’t really know what else to say honestly! i think it’s just a matter of actually liking the sim you’re playing with and enjoying the story you’re going for with them. if i think of anything else, i’ll add it to the post. i hope this helps the people who have asked!!
