Despite my issues with season 4 I'm still sad seeing some concepts from it that could have worked.

One thing is the quest buy stock room. Other than having it that it never should have shut down. The stockroom area is an interesting concept although if I were to rewrite it I'd make it that the catch for that is the room will grant your wish but it needs a trade. Like an actual transaction. The greater that request the higher the cost. Hence why no one abuses it too much because the cost is not worth it

Probably a huge reach but I wonder if back then the creators based monster species on actual animals that gets exploited or poached since we did have monsters like beard deer, giraffe, giant chicken... Before they just went random bs go with the monster designs.

I'm gonna be honest with y'all. It genuinely annoys me how size shifters are such a interesting and unique concept for a species that its criminal that it feels like it only got named just for a joke about how eclipsa and globgor bumped uglies.

Like there's so much interesting world building for a species like that

I wonder if hekapoo introducing dimensional travel to the universe kinda fucked it over in a way. Like even if it was not the intention exposing many worlds to that might have actually sabotaged their own self development. I mean why invent something when quest buy can just provide it right? Why build an army when a sellsword company or organization like monsters for hire can provide easy access soldiers.

Alright time to share concepts again.

Starting with a power system for the world of svtfoe.

One thing I've always never believed in is that the realm of magic is THE source of all magic. My personal view on it is that it's more of a hotspot of magic. Like a well or a lake in a city. Good resource but hardly the source of everything.

Now for the power system I describe it simply as "Magic is Everywhere but it has to come from somewhere"

The way the system works is that you're either born with magic or not.

If you don't have magic that's where the system comes into play. Basically to be a mage you simply have to get magic from a source. Similar to how the butterfly family draws power from the wand people simply have to do something similar in which they either have a powerful magical relic or perhaps draw their power from a powerful magic being.

For example while not explored gods are a thing in Mewni. Heck hekapoo herself is considered a goddess yet strangely enough it's not acknowledged much. And we see she's able to grant the ability to travel dimensions through scissors.

Same logic applies to the system.

Anyways hope this yapping made sense to y'all

Faux matriarchy with a patriarchal god who literally made the first mewman settlers his chosen people. They’re the chosen people of a god who told them to do ethnic cleansing on the indigenous population, who the god describes as evil monsters, and provides his new flock with a storybook that promises them victory over “evil” aka successfully establishing the occupation state of Mewni.

I will literally never stop talking about how gross this is

Glossaryck literally says he’ll “go down with his ship” (being the mewman occupation and butterfly regime) but we’re supposed to feel sad he and the MHC died, and that all the magic spells died.

In a show theoretically about reconciling the history of indigenous genocide and current indigenous peoples’ lived reality with current and past occupying forces, the only time the fandom said the word “genocide” as a whole was when the personified spells and the stranglehold of imperial powers died.

Calling the fall of the leaders of the fictional Reich and the fucking AI cartoons in their weapons system going offline forever a fucking “genocide” when what actually happened is those things not existing means the only real genocide happening in story can no longer continue with the ease it once did. So fandom knew the word genocide. They just don’t consider a the genocide victims in the text to be remotely human (“they’re not literally human tho” lmao we all know how alternative sapient species in fantasy and sci fi are stand ins for human groups, we literally all know that.)

You know what. I've been discussing this with a friend and I'm now fairly certain the show should have established what exactly counts as a monster on mewni instead of random bs go or what the artists wanted to draw at the time. Like damn even set up a set number of species would have done wonders for world building especially since the books do have canon names for monsters. That would have been a start.

Would have made it easier to avoid cringe scenes like Tom saying demons are monsters(no they're not!!!) Or ponyheads being treated as if she's the monster of the group. Ugh

I have a headcanon that in Mewni due to the fact that Most animals actually seem sapient and intelligent it was actually an unthinkable act to "tame" Them. Sure monsters probably did make bonds though they did have giants but not the way mewmans eventually subjugated and tamed beasts of burden for their nation. Just shower thoughts
