Feelings: Definitely losing my resolve for this Whole30 thing right about now...
So those "feelings" I wrote at about noon on Friday (I'm writing this party Monday morning). I just was not excited about Whole30. The first time around everything was new and challenging and I stayed fully on track because I was so excited about the final reveal and telling all my readers/friends/anyone who would listen about my experience. I only took two weeks off before jumping back on the Whole30 train and ya know what? I think it was too soon.
Instead of trying to go 100% in and being the all or nothing person that I am, I think I need to learn moderation. To me, that's even more challenging than going on Whole30 all-in for the entire time.
Friday night (Halloween) I debated breaking Whole30 and after going back and forth all afternoon and night, I decided I'd take a breather. While with friends having a mini-Halloween party, I broke. I ate candy corn, swedish fish, sour patch kids, baked brie, crackers, mini hot dogs and tater tots plus one glass of wine and one beer. How's that for breaking Whole30? I felt pretty ill after about 20 minutes and cut myself off. By Saturday morning I was back on the Paleo plan (I won't call it Whole30 because Whole30 means 30 days no cheating and clearly that didn't happen). Taking the night off, although it left me feeling like poo, was worth it. It was worth it because it strengthened my resolve for Saturday and the rest of my weekend.
I think my new approach is allowing a cheat meal every week. Once a week I'll let myself chill out, eat a meal of what I want, plus a dessert and then carry on with my Paleo eating.
I still fully support Whole30 and think the plan is amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone toying with the idea but perhaps not two Whole30s just a few weeks apart.
I'll continue to post my meals and moves for anyone interested. It's all about finding what works for you and I think this might work for me. Let's find out.
