Carry on by rainbow rowell: obviously. Gotta love our gay vamp and queer Dragon bois

Simon vs the homosapiens agenda by becki albertalli: great highschool gay book full of Oreos and ferris wheels

Gentleman’s guide to vice and virtue/lady’s guide to petticoat and piracy by mackenzi lee: full of representation of all types! Also great stories! Gay, pan, etc, Muslim, ace aro, epilepsy, dragons, adventures and ships and strong women, you name it!!

I’ll give you the sun by jandy nelson: very interesting book with a two gay boys and a depressed teen and art and stuff! It’s really good!

Weak heart by @basic-banshee ! I am not very far into it yet (only a few chapters) but it’s really great so far and I love her work so I know it’s going to be stellar!

Any of the Percy Jackson books by rick riordan. Greek myths, representation , stellar literature

Stranger than fanfiction by Chris colfer: it’s been a while since I read it but it’s good and it has a trans guy and it’s a pretty touching book overall. The focus isn’t queer but everyone has issues and there’s Sam isn’t out as trans at the start and he’s worried how the guy he likes would react

one thing I’m grateful to my mom for is telling me from a very young age that if a man ever says he’ll kill me if I don’t do what he says, that I should fight and die. that it would be better to die than to be brought to a second location, it would be better to die instantly than live a little longer after god knows how much violation. i know that other people’s moms gave different advice, to be quiet so you can live and get away. little girls all got some kind of advice on what to do, though, huh? like… WHEN a man wants to hurt you. it’s surreal to think about how this shadow affects the landscape of girlhood

YES my mother said the same thing. Plus bite and scratch to get DNA, scream that you don’t know him, cause the biggest scene you can….but DO NOT get in a vehicle/go anywhere with him because “you have to assume that if you don’t get away right then, then you won’t get away at all”.

If you’re like me, you read this part of Carry On and thought, “THIS was the guy who gives awkward hugs?” Because despite being starved of love his whole life, Simon clearly knows how to do affection. I think he just saves it for Baz, is all.

(Also, I generally imagine that, if the sun is creeping up here, they probably got somewhat -*ahem*- feverish in their make-out session. Hence, missing jumper and buttons undone. I dunno. I could be wrong…)

A Thanksgiving gift from me to you. Of the many things I’m thankful for, I’m so grateful to have discovered @rainbowrowell’s Carry On and this amazing community. I hope you enjoy this series. It feels a bit personal for me, as there’s a bit of me in every expression on the page. So consider yourself seduced. ;)

Title: “Cross Every Line”

Description: The final scene of Chapter 64 from Carry On, in which Baz resists Simon - to no avail.

About the Art: I tried to use the sentence “I’d cross every line for him” as inspiration for this series. Throughout the comic, you’ll notice Baz’s inner monologue slicing through the panels as a means to demonstrate the power of Baz’s feelings for Simon against Baz’s facade. Hence, his thoughts cross lines all over the place. The panels themselves eventually succumb to this motif, with his memories of the night before cutting in so dramatically, they take up the bulk of the spread. The final spread pushes this theme to a resolution as Simon and Baz’s embrace is splayed across two panels, ending with both of them sharing the final panel together - and unlike all the other monologue boxes, which cut into the panels, Baz’s declaration of love is smack in the panel beside them.

I made sure to chronicle this process, so I hope to have that to share with you guys next week. Also, I know there are asks waiting in my inbox - I promise to get to them soon. :)
