He meets Steve Harrington for the first time and immediately gives him a duck.

Steve is a bit confused but really flattered, he can't stop smiling at this adorable man's gesture.

Eddie glanced over his shoulder to see Steve blush a soft pink, then quickly turned his attention back to the task at hand. He grabbed the tray from the oven and carefully set it on the stove, tossing the oven mitts onto the counter with a grin. "We'll let those cool for just a few minutes." Steve said as he transferred the filling into a piping bag. "And then we'll fill and eat!"

Steve starts accidentally falling asleep fully wrapped around Eddie. Not just an arm toss like one leg thrown over Eddie’s, face buried in his neck, one hand fisted in the back of Eddie’s shirt like he’ll be snatched away from him.

He wakes up first, panics, and tries to peel himself off before Eddie notices. He’s convinced Eddie’s going to think it’s suffocating and too needy. So he spends a week trying to sleep "normal." On his side with a respectful distance. He’s miserable with that.

Then one night Eddie wakes up to Steve bolt upright at 3am from a nightmare, breathing hard. Before Steve can even apologize, Eddie just rolls over, yanks Steve down, and manhandles him back into a intertwined position, and just mutters into Steve’s hair saying

"Cut that shit out. You sleep better when you’re on me, I sleep better when you’re not doing that weird hovering thing. We’re both winning here, Harrington."

Steve who just goes, "...you don’t think it’s too much?"

Eddie shakes his head saying "Dude. I was about to start tying your wrist to my bedpost with my belt so you’d quit escaping. You’re fine. Come here."

Any time they’re on the couch it happens where Steve ends up with an arm slung around Eddie, thumb rubbing circles on his shoulder. If Eddie shifts to grab chips, Steve’s arm just follows him without Steve even noticing. He’s basically anchoring Eddie to him during the whole Star Wars marathon. It’s not even on purpose. It’s just Eddie’s warm and Eddie’s there.

Dustin notices in hour two of Empire. “Ugh, you guys are gross,” he says, but he’s grinning. “Get a room.”

And Steve goes red instantly. Drops his arm like Eddie burned him. Sits up straight like he got caught doing something wrong. His immediate thought was they were being that couple. The clingy, oblivious, gross couple.

“Shut up, Henderson,” Eddie says, laughing. Then he turns, grabs Steve’s hand before it can retreat to Steve’s own lap, and laces their fingers together and tugs it to his chest. Kisses Steve’s knuckles, slow and deliberate, eyes locked on Dustin the whole time.

“Don’t mind us,” Eddie tells the room. “Harrington’s just making sure I don’t float away.”

Steve’s face is on fire. But Eddie’s holding his hand to his heart, and his thumb’s doing that same little circle thing Steve was doing to him.

And yeah maybe he is clingy but Eddie doesn’t seem to mind.

"Because you weren't there." "Awww, what a romantic," Stevie replied, laughing as the rest of Hellfire made vomiting sounds. "Fine, fine, we'll tone it down - for now." "But you guys should be used to it," Eddie pointed out. "Exactly," Stevie agreed. "But …" She trailed off when she spotted a familiar figure enter the lunchroom. "What the fuck is he doing here?" "Who's that?" Eddie asked. "My sperm donor," Stevie whispered, trying to keep from throwing up her lunch. She saw the exact moment he spotted her - the brief flash of disgust on his face before he schooled his features told Stevie all she needed to know. Very aware of the attention of the cafeteria on her, she stood to confront Richard Harrington.

Little fist pumps, wild gyrating hips. Some kind of shuffle-wiggle motion. Hair wildly swooshing about.

The most ridiculous of facial expressions as they hum to the music. Inevitable but equally earnest high-pitched murmur-singing ("Now who's the muppet, Steven?" – Robin, probably).

No one can decide if it's worse when they are sober or drunk out of their minds. And god forbid they start dancing together.
