Haru and Rin Interview, ES DVD Vol. 3

Interviewer: Today we’ve got Nanase Haruka-kun of the Iwatobi high School Swim Team and Matsuoka Rin-kun of the Samezuka Academy Swim Team with us. Thanks for joining us.
Rin: Thank you.
Haru: ………..Thank you.
Interviewer: Now then, let’s get started! I’d love to hear the parts of your respective swim teams you’re particularly proud of.
Rin: Hmm, let’s see… We’ve got some great facilities, so I guess I’m really proud of the indoor pool we’ve got. You can swim year-round.
Haru: ……………
Rin: Hm? What?
Haru: …Nothing.
Rin: Heheh, jealous, are we?
Haru: Ngh…not…at all.
Rin: Hah, c’mon, fess up.
Haru: My club has things yours doesn’t.
Rin: Uh huh… Such as?
Haru: “An adorable manager”.
Rin: WHAT?!
Interviewer: That’s right! Iwatobi’s swim club does indeed have an ‘adorable manager’—Matsuoka Gou-chan!
Rin: Haru…is that seriously how you feel?
Haru: About what?
Rin: Don’t play dumb! You just called her ‘adorable’!
Haru: Nagisa says it all the time.
Rin: N-NAGISA?!
Haru: That “Haru-chan and Mako-chan and Rei-chan and Gou-chan are aaaaaalll adorable☆!”
Rin: ……………
Haru: …What now?
Rin: SAY THAT’S WHAT YOU MEANT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Interviewer: (haha) Now, how do you feel about your teammates?
Rin: We’ve got a large roster, so it’s tough keeping them all together. But they’re all really passionate about swimming, they’ve got great heart.
Haru: Everyone on my team is serious about swimming, too. Though the only ones that swim are Makoto, Nagisa, Rei, and myself…
Rin: Yeah, and you’re all weirdos (haha).
Haru: I could say the same about your people.
Rin: So you don’t deny it…
Haru: Deny what?
Rin: Nevermind; anyway, we don’t really have those kinds of freaks in our club. Momo, I’ll give you—but Sousuke and Ai are normal…ish…I guess…
Haru: But you’re the weirdest, right?
Rin: ……………
Haru: What’s wrong? You look sad…
Rin: You’re the last person I wanted to hear that from…
Interviewer: We’ve heard your thoughts on your swim clubs, so now let’s have some free chatting!
Rin: And here we go…
Haru: What’s wrong?
Rin: They had this same bit in one of the earlier interviews; it was a pretty normal setup, and yet…
Interviewer: The topic this time is “What if you were the director?”
Rin: Uuuuggggghhhhh…
Haru: What part of that is remotely normal?
Rin: So they changed the objective…
Interviewer: Previously, we observed Haruka-kun intently watching the footage that the AV Club put together to attract new club members, but if you were going to direct a film, what sort of piece would you put together?
Rin: Was it really that amazing?
Haru: It was; Dark Hero Iwatobi-chan was in it.
Rin: ….Yeah, I think I see where we’re going now. You really like that sort of thing, huh…
Haru: …So what if I do?
Rin: So? If you were the director, then…?
Haru: A movie about water.
Rin: Like a documentary?
Haru: Anything goes. A movie where you can swim.
Rin: ….What? You’re actually planning on swimming in it?
Haru: I am.
Rin: Don’t you think it’s a little weird for the director to swim and film at the same time?
Haru: Is it?
Rin: It is; no matter how you slice it.
Haru: Then what would you do?
Rin: I would…hm, let’s see…I think I’d make this really passionate—
Haru: Love Romance?
Rin: NO.
Interviewer: That sounds lovely!
Rin: Wait—no, I haven’t said anything yet…
Haru: Didn’t you go see a movie with Gou the other day? A love story.
Rin: …Hey…how the hell do you know about that?
Haru: She happily told us all.
Rin: …Oh, uh, that was…I mean, she really wanted to see it, so I didn’t exactly have a choice…
Haru: You still cried, though, didn’t you?
Rin: NO COMMENT.
Haru: Plus, you really love romantic stuff.
Rin: ………I…it’s not that I love it, it’s just…
Haru: So like I said, you’ll make a romantic film.
Rin: OI!
Interviewer: Thank you very much!
Rin: OI!!
Interviewer: Actually, we have one more topic, and that is: “What’s your favorite phrase?” Please go with your gut response!
Haru:"All-you-can-swim"!
Interviewer: As expected, a response in a cool 0.02 seconds! And now, Rin-kun!
Rin: "Perfect Swimmer"!
Interviewer: Another 0.02 seconds! I can’t believe we’ve got a tie here!
Both: Tsk.
Interviewer: Thank you for those prompt responses. Now then, can we have a message for those readers who’ve stuck with us till the end of this interview?
Rin: Having a conversation with Haru really just throws me off my game… Though I guess my interview with Sousuke wasn’t much of one either, huh… Thanks once again for sticking with us.
Haru: …Thanks.
Rin: Haha, and he actually expresses himself properly for once.
Interviewer: Thank you very much! We can’t wait to see where you two go from here!
Interviewer: Makoto-kun’s frightened reaction was certainly a sight to behold!
Haru: I was standing there, cooking my breakfast mackerel, and suddenly I hear this loud yell from Makoto.
Rin: Oh man, cut it out…
Haru: Thanks to that, I was able to cook my mackerel in peace without being hurried along.
Interviewer: How did you feel, hearing how Nagisa-kun felt about swimming?
Haru: I was glad to finally hear his true emotions.
Rin: I never knew he had that kind of passion to him…
Interviewer: So it seems [the Mikoshiba brothers] have finally realized who they’re both in love with…
Rin: Yet another annoyance to deal with…
Haru: Looks like you’ve got it rough—Oniichan.
Rin: Why you…
Interviewer: What did you think of Makoto-kun’s request for a race?
Haru: …Nothing really. I swam as I always do.
Rin: I was actually pretty shocked to see Makoto entering a Freestyle race. Did something happen?
