Dinner time
Breakfast!
So this is my before and after picture after 10 weeks. It doesn't look like much but its a big deal to me! My stomach is a lot flatter now and I'm much more comfortable in my body now.
So back in December 2013 I was a size 16 and I wasn't happy in my body. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes so I decided to change my lifestyle, eat a lot healthier and exercise more. I've now gone down to a size 12 and I'm extremely happy with my weight loss. I've lost over a stone and a half. I don't want to loose anymore weight, I just want to tone my body now, get rid of my big thighs, my bingo wings and tone my stomach. Its a goal I've set myself as I'm going to work in France this summer and I want to be looking and feeling my best. I'm so happy with my body now and I'm going to keep up the hard work I've been putting in 👍 remember, you can do this too if you want. 👍
Morning Smoothie
Smoothies are such a good way of getting large amounts of vitamins, and antioxidants into your systems with a low calories and carbs amount. I'm a type one diabetic so I had a small bit of rapid acting insulin for my smoothie this morning to cover the juice. I also had a green tea with a slice of lemon when I first woke up to clear my system and then....
this morning instead of having my regular wheatabix and blurberries, I decided to make a smoothie instead. So I got my blender out and I added one kiwi, 4 strawberries, half a banana. a small glass of orange juice and a few blueberries with two tablespoons of natural greek yogurt. I never usually have smoothies for breakfast, I would rather have them as a meal replacement or after the gym but I wanted something fresh for this morning as I'm going for a run soon. But surprisingly, this actually turned out extremely nice and it's full of vitamins and very low in calories and carbs. And it's filling! Here's a picture of the one I made this morning, hope you enjoy it!
Here we go again!
Sugar levels go too low, so I take sugar. Sugars then go too high, so I take insulin and then I'm back to being low again. Diabetes is a vicious circle!!
I keep thinking I'm going to wake up and the doctors just going to be like, "You don't have diabetes anymore!"
Always remember that!
So after the gym last night I was so tired!! I did 15 mins on the treadmill, 5 mins walking at 6.6 then running from 8.8-9.2 for 8 minutes then a short walk to catch my breath again to finish it off for 2 minutes! I then went on the bike for 8 minutes, I did 3 at level 5, two at 10 and 3 at 5 again. Then I did some cardio with kettle bell lifts, dumbbells, side planks with lateral raise, normal planks and crunches. I did them for like 20 minutes, and i then did the rowing machine for 5 minutes at level 7, the bike again for 5 on level 5 and then 5 minute cool down between running at 8.8 and walking at 6.6 on the treadmill. I was really tired after it but I was hungry and I'm a diabetic so I needed some carbs after it so I just had a sandwich with just chicken, cucumber and cheese on it!
Today I had football training for one hour and it was a really intense session but I feel great after it!
That's three sessions so far this week between gym and footie training!
I hope this is helpful to people who are trying to get back into fitness because the exercise I'm doing is quite easy but tomorrow I'm getting my gym programme to help me with my legs, bum and abs! I hope it work so I can have that bikini body I've always dreamed off. People are also noticing the drop in my weight so that's always a good thing too!
Keep working out guys, I know sometimes it's though but you feel so much better after it! It's worth the sweat! :)
This is how I feel when I think of living with diabetes. I was given this life because I'm strong enough to live it. Some times if I'm having a bad day with mood swings and cravings for sweet things I doubt it but then reality kicks in and not everything seems as bad when I know I can manage my doses!
Gym time! :)
This is me!
So, Friday three weeks ago I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and today I was at my diabetes clinic to learn how I can count my carbohydrates properly and learn to adjust my insulin myself to suit what I eat. It was a lot to take in but I'm trying my hardest to get on top of my diabetes and not to let it beat me! I'm going to increase my exercise amount. Last week I went to the gym three times and for between 30-60 minutes each time. This week I had football training last night (Monday) so I never went to the gym but I'm going tonight! I'm going to do some cardio, including the treadmill, the bike, dumbbells, kettle-bells and then some minor exercises like sit ups and planks. I'm determined to get fit for this summer as I'm off to France for four months and I want to feel comfortable while lying by the pool or at the beach in my bikini. So right now I'm off to do that and then I'm home to do some study and research for my thesis.
Enjoy your night guys and remember,
A workout no matter how big or small is still a work out!
