New Year’s Eve was perfect and I sure as hell didn’t want it to ever end. Here’s just a few shots I’ve got on my phone. Late thank you to everyone who made it out to share laughs and conversations. @lyddz knows how to pull off a stellar Roaring 20s party! Back in the prohibition days, speakeasies needed to be code named and you had to use passwords to get in. I opened a speakeasy for one hour in Shauntelle’s honor called “Sissy’s Blind Tiger.” Members only, of course. To become a member, you had to bring a sock and use the password “take her socks” (friend group inside joke). Top 9 of 2019 seems pretty accurate. I’m more than ready to close the door on 2019. I experienced the best and worst days of my life. I married my best friend and my sister @shauntelle_leona died. I did my best to become a better person, and I succeeded. I listened more to people that are unlike me. I learned I how to grieve and battle anxiety, depression, and pure sadness. I gained insight on how to help others going through those things as well. I admitted faults and opened up to more friends and family about past traumas that have attempted to overtake me. I found comfort in leaning on friends and family and joy in allowing people to lean on me. I kicked ass this year through it all, and I look forward to 2020 and a fresh new decade with my chin up. Today marks 4 months without my sister. My family and I are staying strong, but the holidays have been tough. Fortunate to still have a wonderful family to celebrate Christmas with next week.
