Out of the many issues we are facing during the lock-down, the prominent one happens to be availability and quality of vegetables and fruits. Sid and I are often paranoid after getting new stock of veggies home. Washing under water and keeping them isolated for a few hours is our way of being super cautious. This planned murder of the veggies often made me wonder if there is anyway to grow your own produce in a smart-city housing with limited outdoor space. Enter @kmrpreetam ā the sustainability Ninja at work. When most of us are confined to our not-so-huge city homes, Preetam has researched, planned and implemented HYDROPONICS ā an ancient art of growing plants with water minus soil. An art that was forgotten only to be discovered lately by hobbyists, farmers and plant-parents. Hydroponics doesnāt require a specific skill set or expensive equipment. Anyone who wishes to grow healthy food for fresh consumption can explore it. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-4Es-oHa2R/?igshid=gcknxgutzugf

The best thing about #hyderabad is the weather. Whenever the temperature crosses 35, it starts raining. Apart from May and first half of June, weather throughout is lovely and pleasant. After 14 months, the city is starting to grow on us. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-woxIXHu2f/?igshid=tw6dryxtqixm
6:30 pm last night. Usually it gets dark in #hyderabad at this hour. But the light till from 6 pm to 7 pm was just magical and something else. Felt like #dawn. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-tokw7nQWN/?igshid=ve5z6yvbo2wk
As kids all most of us loved the smell of books, new pens or a box of pencils. The joy of writing our names in the new book for the first time was irreplaceable. Post college the love for books is often limited to buying fancy diaries and saving them for a good story or office meetings, in my case ā 20 unused diaries and counting!
Some time back, I came across a link that hit me hard, Should We All Mourn The Death Of Handwriting which got me reading similar stories to understand if We Could Soon Forget How To Write to conclude that on average an adult hasnāt scribbled anything for 6 WEEKS!Ā
How does this affect us?
We are unable to connect our thoughts and actions
Our ability to deal with mental illnesses has significantly increased
Enter Sakshi Singh, a journalist, teacher and author who is conducting Writing For Therapy sessions online, to help you relieve anxiety and feel grounded. The timing couldnāt be better as most of us are feeling paranoid of the future and whatās to come.Ā
Writing for therapy uses āwriting as a toolā to express thoughts, achieve clarity and perspective, record your life experiences, set goals and intent. The focus is not on quality of writing but on using writing as a healing, relaxing and meditative tool to understand oneself and reflect.
There are no major prerequisites to enroll. You just need:
A quiet space and either Skype or Zoom on your mobile/laptopĀ
Willingness to patiently work with wonders and the power to release your inner most ideas, thoughts and insights
A genuine intent to explore the hidden subconscious.
Thatās it. 3 basic things and you should be able to help yourself confront your innermost emotions. Writing for Therapy sessions are of 20 mins each, starting 30th March from 4 pm to 6 pm. You can have an exclusive session for yourself by registering here. The sessions are at no cost and will be conducted via Skype/Zoom video calls.Ā
Still think Writing might not be your thing? Hear from a few who have benefited from it:

One can write anywhere/ anytime. It is like a friend and therapist guide. Offers immediate release of pent-up emotions and helps you communicate better with clarity. People with low self-esteem, depression and eating disorder can specifically benefit from Writing Therapy.Ā

I have been writing for as long as I can remember. Writing letters to people and expressing my feelings through the written word has saved me many times and also strengthened my relationships and given a deeper meaning to the world around me. It has made me reflect, remember, record and release this beautiful journey of my life. A lot of my poetry was merely venting, journaling and then became poetry once I shared it anonymously with the children I worked with. I then went on to pursue a course in it at Wales a few years ago with renowned teachers Victoria Field and Graham Hartill who taught us how to conduct these sessions.

The lock-down has helped us realize a lot of things about how we like to spend our time. While sitting in front of the TV is the easiest thing to do, I wanted to utilize this time to try my hand at the most complex skill according to me (TRADING IN SHARE MARKET). My first blog is about my journey with Mutual Funds and the experience so far š When I shared the blog with my circle, people started sharing stories of how a lot of us are trying something new, many are also sharing their knowledge to help others get productive from home.
