Okay, clearly my beliefs don't always align with the vast majority because I LOVED this book. I see a lot of negative reviews of this book in particular but I couldn't put it down! Also, if you read a physical copy of the book it is so WONDERFUL to hold. It is floppy. It is comfortable. It is fantastic. One of the first purchases of a physical book I have bought myself!
With all of that being said, I can admit the flaws I saw in the book. In the beginning, it really felt that the main characters had no chemistry between each other. It felt pretty random when they did begin having chemistry but I loved it so much.
I absolutely loved the crazy ending, but it did feel pretty rushed. The rest of the book felt well paced so it was pretty interesting to read the ending. It was a major cliffhanger, but even with my typical hatred of series I really do look forward to reading the next one.
I loved the characters! The supporting characters did carry a bit, and I just loved how they added to the story.
Overall, such a great read. I am here to read for a good time, not a serious time. Don't let others' opinions of books deter you from reading and enjoying them!!
An amateur review of A Curse of Blood and Wolves by Melissa McTernan

Okay, lets be honest with each other, if I was a professional book critic this would have been rated a 1/5 stars. Fun fact about me is that I love a good wattpad-reminiscent book as it brings me back to where my love for books began.
I love werewolf romances. There. I said it. I love romance books that are just so unrealistic and I cannot apply it to my life in any way. This book was so terrible and wattpad-like that it was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, both the male and female main character were super annoying. Just imagine both characters saying "I'm not like other girls" or "I'm not like other boys" the entire time.
This book is actually supposed to be a "Spicy reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood" which I saw about 1 similarity. (He is a wolf and she is a girl and they are in the woods). This book is also supposed to be a stalker romance. He watched her walk home from work everyday and she was like "oh I kinda like this" and it was basically over in half a second. Which is fine. I am not a big fan of stalker romances. (I mean stalking is an actual serious and prevalent problem not taken seriously WAY too often so...)
So we have established that I compare this book to wattpad literature, this is because of how terrible I found the writing. Even with this I could not put it down. The book did in fact end on a complete cliff hanger but I also do not care enough to finish the series. It did not need to be a series.
This was a fantastic choice of a "good bad book" and it required no deep thinking. Wonderful if you are in a book slump!
Also, they mentioned the female character's "little bare feet" a few times too many for me not to notice... If this is something you are into you may enjoy this book even more. No judgment here, just saying that it was pretty noticeable.
Amateur Book Review of The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent

This was my first ever audio book! I think that is why I loved this book so much, as I had never indulged in literature in that manner before. I will say, I may have been a bit gracious with my rating, as it is not a perfect book by ANY means. But, I just love books that I love, and do not discriminate.
In the beginning of the book, and honestly the majority of the book, the female main character was absolutely INSUFFERABLE to me. I think this was because she was told to be as cold, cruel, harsh, and badass as her father. I ended up loving the male main character, and continued reading the book just to learn more about him and the other side characters.
I accidentally spoiled the book for myself, BUT, the plot twist was crazy and I couldn't have predicted that literally ever. The plot twist wasn't overwhelming though.
The romance is a wonderful slow burn in my opinion. Absolutely LOVED them together. This book ended with a lot of unanswered questions, but not necessarily a cliff hanger. Because of this, I didn't feel the need to read the second one for a few weeks. I was able to take a break from the duology and come back with no problems.
Another reason I believe I was such a big fan of the novel is that I had not read a vampire book before. It was a completely different world compared to what I was used to and I loved the change in scenery.
I find this series interesting as once completed, they were be interconnected standalones. I am not the biggest fan of a continuing series anymore but I am excited to see how it goes.
Growing up, I have always had ideas for books but never have followed through with attempting to write one. I think I want to try, but I just enjoy reading so much I can't imagine I would be a great writer.
I think it would be fun, but I want to hear your thoughts about writers and readers and if they go hand in hand or not.

Amateur Book Review of Fallout by Todd Strasser
Rating: 4/5 Stars
To be quite honest, this is not a book I would pick up on my own. That does not mean I did not enjoy it thoroughly. In one of my classes, we were told to read this novel to eventually create lesson plans using what we had read in the book. (education major over here)
This book had simple language, making it easy to physically read, but I found certain scenes to be difficult to get through.
The book follows a "what if" scenario of the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 1960's. The narration is by a young, 11 year old boy, and each chapter jumps back and forth between "before" the bombs, and "after." At first I was nervous to read a book with such intense themes, but I am very happy I did.
At times I wanted to punch the adults in the face and tell them how immature and rude they were being. I wanted to set them straight for the good of the children. However, I cannot imagine what life would have been like if that were to have actually happen and it just makes me worry for the state of our world right now. Under that immense stress, the adults were saying horrible things to each other and bigotry and racism persisted even in what they believed to be the final moments on earth.
I saw a lot of similarities between the world now, and the book itself. I highly encourage everyone to read this novel and gather your own feelings about it as well. Strasser even included deep thinking questions in the back of the novel to prompt guided discussions in a classroom setting.

Amateur Book Review of Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
Rating: 4/5 Stars
Okay, I would like to say that my rating may be a tad bit biased because of how much I have fallen in love with the characters from the first two books.
At times, the book was very hard to get through. I am not a professional fantasy reader quite yet, so world building is a little difficult for me to follow.
My friend was able to essentially annotate the important information, but had to EXTRA explain the ending. What a terrible cliffhanger!
I have a slight personal vendetta against Rebecca Yarros because she just loves to make us readers annoyed and upset. She giggles and laughs when she is like "omg yes your favorite will totally die" like who is laughing Rebecca. Who. Is. Laughing.
Anyway, I wish the series was over. I wish it wasn't a series actually! On my anti-series shit over here.
I do recommend the series, but it definitely isn't for everyone. I began reading it because there will be a tv series made, but I have a feeling they will fuck that shit up and it will be horrible to watch but who knows.

100 Book Challenge!
In the past, I have been worried about committing to reading 100 books in a year. This year, I decided to bite the bullet and attempt it. I keep track of my books as I read, so even though it is currently May as I post this, I will be able to fill out the months prior. My plan is to do a different color for each month and see how far I get!

I love reading, and I don't want to put this immense pressure on myself to read if I don't want to. I am a student, so I am unreasonably busy. Thankfully it is nearly summer break so I am hoping to pick up speed!
Amateur book review of King of Wrath by Ana Huang
Rating: 3/5 Stars
Looking back at my previous reviews, I feel as though I may have been in a sour mood when reading. I am very harsh on my rating scale, (especially for someone who is not a writer.)
Slight spoiler: they break up in the middle of the book for like 2 seconds. During this? HE WAS RUDE AS FUCK! Absolutely horrible. He did grovel a lot afterwards, but he annoyed me so much because tell me why a 37 year old man is acting like that? Immature. Super embarrassing to say the least.
All of this being said, I did like the book! It was a great pallet cleanser and I enjoyed reading it. I wanted to give it 4 stars at first, but because of my terrible mood, left it at 3.
This is the first book in the 7 Deadly Sins series of Ana Huang's and I am not sure if I am planning to read the rest. (King of Pride is currently on my dnf list...) ANOTHER SERIES??? BE DONE.
If you are in the mood for some easy to read literature and don't want an aggressive plot to stress you out, I highly recommend this novel. Its a happily ever after and with all of the criticism I provided I did have a great time reading it.
Let me know if the rest of the series is worth it.
Amateur Book Review of Things We Hide From the Light by Lucy Score
Rating: 2/5 Stars.
This is the second book in the Knockemout series by Lucy Score.
Okay, this book? I was not a fan. Not good.
At first, I rated this book 3 stars because I love the characters from book one. Unfortunately, the plot was copied and pasted from book one. Same. Exact. Book.
The one liners were annoying, and it eventually made me alter my original 5/5 star rating I gave the first book.
I would never want to be in the situation these characters are in, because clearly it happens often if the plot of book one is the same as book two. This made me hate the characters I grew to love. It felt rushed, and I hate all of the men involved now. This book disappointed me because of how much I enjoyed the first one.
Once again, I am an amateur. Please, let me know if I am missing something? This book is absolutely beautiful and I fell in love with the characters from the first book, so it broke me that this one left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
