He’s also just a teenage boy, a deeply traumatized and neglected teenage boy with no childhood or present parents to teach him anything. I doubt he’s in touch with any emotions or ideas of morality and his wants. His mission to touch boobs is just his surface level understanding of what a life goal or moral drive is because he doesn’t have the emotional tools to delve any deeper than that.
He literally can’t grasp the concept of love, morality, or anything that most of us learned naturally growing up with parents or at the very least around our peers. So when his body responds to his hormones around women he just thinks “ah yes this must be the driving factor and life goal everybody must be experiencing” because it makes sense to him. It’s a physical feeling he can grasp because all that morality and passionate human drive stuff are just concepts he can’t possibly understand or physically experience. A life of doing anything for money to survive isn’t one that cultivates morality or emotional stability so when he acts the way he does and is labeled a perv or a poorly written protagonist it’s frustrating. If anything he’s one of the more interestingly written weird main characters in anime. We’re so used to protags we can relate to or root for right off the bat, it’s sorta refreshing to get one that we need to learn to understand as we follow the story. It’s his story and we’re forced to follow it whether we see our humanity in him or not.
And shit at a base level his weird initial attachment to just Makima should be proof enough that it’s not just titty touches that titillate his tentative life drive. 🤙
