Dark Urge Tavaria (x Rolan) Fic Timeline / Chronological Order / Masterpost

So, on the knowledge that apparently the timeline of my fics - and occasional flashback - is a bit messy (and at the suggestion of @syd-the-dude2, I've put together a bit of a timeline order, denoting when that chapter takes place and whether it occurs in timeline 1 (never durge), timeline 2 (embrace durge), timeline 3 (resist durge), or a mix of the three.

This includes a WIP one-shot fic (Ascension Day), a confirmed but WIP sequel fic, discussion of future fic plans, and a specific chapter I am nearly ready to publish

IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER: PRE-GAME STORIES:

1476 DR: The Sorceress of Ramazith's Tower, Chapter 5 (ALL TIMELINES) (Tiefling Trio siblings & their parents). Memory explored as a 'dream'. Features the last time as kids that Rolan/Lia/Cal saw Rolan's mum and Cal/Lia's dad alive.

1481 DR: Found and Lost, Chapters 1-2 (NEVER DURGE) (link to ch1). Tavaria helps distract bullies while Lia beats the others up. They recover Rolan's stuff, and Rolan and Tavaria (age 14/13) kiss. Alluded to as flashbacks: Events of the RESIST DURGE timeline are close but not identical (Tavaria fights instead of distracts, the Urge nearly manifests. (EMBRACE's actions diverge significantly here, Lia never forgives her & no Rolan kiss)

1483 DR through early 1492 DR: Found and Lost, Chapter 3 (NEVER DURGE) (Tavaria's life in this timeline between the kiss and the Nautiloid)

1490 DR: Ascension Day (RESIST AND EMBRACE DURGE) (one-shot). Tavaria kills the White Dragonborn man known as 'The Boss', the pretender to Bhaal's bloody inheritance...with a little help from an arms dealer of increasing note. Implied Tavaria x Gortash

1491 DR: The Parasite Within, Chapters 1 through Early 3rd (RESIST AND EMBRACE DURGE). After returning from Mephistopheles' vault with the Crown of Karsus, Tavaria and Gortash fuck and they explore one of her kinks. This causes a major issue, however, as they (and Orin) go to unite with Ketheric Thorm, ultimately causing Orin to slice her slaughter-sister (and the young fetus inside her) to pieces and take over as Chosen. Explicit Tavaria x Gortash.

Early 1492 DR: The Parasite Within, Late Chapter 3 (RESIST AND EMBRACE DURGE). Gortash mourns, then stops. ---

GAME EVENTS (or minor canon divergences from them)

Found and Lost Chapters 4-17 follow Act 1 and the start of Act 2 in the NEVER DURGE timeline (link to ch. 4). Game events, with divergence.

Found and Lost Chapters 18-20 are set in the EMBRACE DURGE timeline (but she retains her memories from 'NEVER') and have a brief recap of alternate game events and character histories, before taking place approximately halfway into Act 2. Tavaria makes a deal with Raphael that results in the creation of RESIST DURGE. This is the weird shit that confuses everyone.

ACTIVE FIC: My Own Soul's Warning Chapters 1-xx follow game events through the conclusion of the game with a RESIST DURGE. Chapters 1-6 are published now but game events will likely comprise the first ~60 chapters of an ~80 chapter story with moderate canon divergence. Tavaria tries to fight the Dark Urge whilst protecting the Elturian Tieflings - and recover her memories. In later chapters, she and Gortash will reunite, prompting a damnable love triangle (Tavaria/Rolan or Tavaria/Gortash?) that may have twists. Also features some background Cal/Lae'zel and occasional seed-planting for Gale/Lia. Will eventually be smutty.

POSTGAME EVENTS:

1492 DR: My Own Soul's Warning Chapters 61-80 (approx). Early draft/notes stage. RESIST DURGE. Will follow events postgame up to and including the epilogue.

ACTIVE FIC: 1493 DR: The Sorceress of Ramazith's Tower (ALL EXCEPT 5/38). RESIST DURGE. This is the Gale/Lia fic. Begins immediately after the epilogue party. Lia suddenly develops sorcery - apparently suppressed since childhood, shortly before the death of her father (and Rolan's mother). Gale tries to train her how to control her magic, leading to LOTS of sheep, a Sharran cult, a surprise wedding, and eventually new destinies for the ENTIRE tiefling trio. Features Tavaria/Rolan and Cal/Lae'zel B-plots as well as some occasional Rolan/Lia sibling rivalry, with all three ships each having moments as the main. Occasionally smutty.

1493 to ??? DR: The Road to Hell: Paved with Good Intentions: to be published. . RESIST DURGE . Direct sequel/spinoff from ALL previous fics but most immediately Sorceress. Rolan and Tavaria unpack in Reithwin, where Tavaria is to be the new Master Farmer and Rolan the new First Enchanter of the rebuilding town (and it's new librarian). Unfortunately, Tavaria REALLY should have read that contract she signed at the end of Found and Lost more closely. Even after Raphael's death, the contract comes due - and Rolan, Lia have to try to reach Tav (in body and mind) while Wyll, Cerys, and Halsin desperately try to reach Karlach and Dammon.

Black Hills drilling project canceled after backlash from tribes

A South Dakota mining company has canceled a drilling project in the Black Hills after opposition from Native American tribes and local grou

Here's a fun little detail about "This is what it sounds like". Mira and Zoey start in their "Golden" outfits, as they've had no time or reason to change since all that went down. It's a bit militaristic, spikes, fringes, and the main fabric seems to black sequins.

We get a closer look at the sequins during the start of the fight, when the girls are all coming together along the three stages.

And then the three girls hug, which recreates the Honmoon and rebuilds their magical alliance, and to signify that, Mira's and Zoey's outfits turn white, showing that they've been sanctified. So far, so good.

But crucially, the white outfits don't have sequins anymore. They have something else:

Patterns.

It's subtle and easy to miss, but the post-reunification outfits of Zoey and Mira are both smooth, but feature some subtle pattern work. Zoeys are a bit more playful, Mira's a bit more angular, both unique to them and their styles. But crucially, they match the demonic patterns on Rumi's skin.

The outfits are telling us that not only have the three reunited, not only have they forgiven each other, they're telling us that these girls are a unit. If one of them has patterns, they all will wear patterns, and be proud of it. They're 100% on Rumi's side.

Of course this is also what the text of the movie is literally saying anyway, it's not exactly subtle, but it's great to see it reinforced in subtle ways like this. I'm sure many people noticed it right away, but it took me several watches of the movie and the promotional Youtube videos to notice it.

...even in world states where Shepard never romanced Liara, it's clear the asari had feelings for the Commander.

The maelstrom of feelings Liara has to feel knowing that she gave Miranda Lawson Shepard's body...and Shepard gave Miranda Lawson the last piece, her heart.

And if Shepard is alive, and ready to stand against the Reapers, then her mission was still a success. Just, perhaps not in the way Liara wished.

My fics, 95% of the time: Happy endings! Saccharine displays of love and devotion! TV-appropriate levels of romance. Marriage and family.

My fics, the OTHER 5% of the time: Tavaria's masochism and breeding kinks! Miranda Lawson was a victim of horrific childhood medical abuse!

...Know what the worst part is? That 5% is usually where I take the risks that make the most interesting stories and I know it. (And dread it it.)

Length: 8,390 Words Miranda / Female Shepard (Maria) Warning: This fic gets into some pretty severe flashbacks to child abuse in a medical/experimental setting. I am not kidding. Chapter 3 is one of the harder things I've written. It's a known fact that the first biotics weren't born in the Alliance until the early 2150s after exposures in Singapore, on colony ships, etc. Yet, Miranda Lawson was born in 2150 and is a biotic of some note.

And from the sound of it, Henry Lawson was up to some nefarious experimentation. As Miranda starts having blackouts aboard the Normandy, the truth of her powers - and her sisters - is revealed.

Later: Henry Lawson is discovered to be up to even bigger horrors the next year at Sanctuary. We know good and damn well how Shepard and Miranda will react.

On one positive note, Dr. Chakwas proves herself something of a mother figure to both Shepard and Miranda.

Miranda has lines in game strongly suggesting that Miranda had quite a few sisters that Henry Lawson 'discarded', that Miranda herself was the victim of some horrific actions and abuses, her biotics don't neatly fit the universe's timeline, and the two remaining siblings names have a pattern.

I'm going to be posting a story (gen fic to the extreme, but Miri and Shepard are very much in love - even when it's hard) that explains how Miranda Lawson got her biotics, but first, the ending. Dr. Chakwas casting the deciding vote, knowing what happened, to put all thirteen dead Larson sisters on the Memorial Wall just before going after The Illusive Man

Time seemed to crawl in the space between Lia gaining her magic and Cal's departure from Baldur's Gate. As time moves ever more rapidly, the shape of Lia's life to come begins to form.

The end to the story for now. Highlights of the adventures lived in the space between (departures, training, fireworks, a proposal, and a wedding), ending at the start of the next great adventure.

Perhaps not the ending I wanted when I set out with this two years ago, but given that I'm in a state of largely unrecoverable burnout with BG3, I really wanted to give these two closure and an ending for those who invested in my often insane story the past two years.

The tone and pace are incredibly more rapid than the preceding 43 chapters. But I'm still immensely proud of this story.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to reading all of their works yet, AND MOOTIES, I AM SO SORRY FOR THAT 🥺, but I went through them and gathered information on their works for you :3 For some of the them, I began reading snippets or newer works, and I definitely might be missing out on some of their older works :( But honestly, like, I am 1000% sure their writing is good even if I haven’t started reading their works yet, and you, anon, can choose for yourself whose style you prefer :3

@optimisticgrey For ME, this is the first Gale writer that comes to mind, as I’ve read their works the most :3 You can check the full master post here, but there’s one fic in particular I read in preparation for this question because I’ve been eyeing that one for a while. It is “In the wake of your departure”. OH MAN, this is such a great hurt angst, as a Gale fan, you will be left gutted for sure! And I also loved the “I have known you”, I wouldn’t say it’s SAD sad, but likee… you do feel your heart tingling at the scenario :(((

@warmsummersday “In every universe“ OH MY GOD. I’ve read it so long ago, and I still remember it, it hurt me. :( It is short, but it made me cry hardcore at the scenario. Also, they have a longer fic “Don't forget me”, if you want moarr from them :3

A lot of folks who followed me for BG3 stuff may have been sighing at all the Mass Effect stuff lately.

But I promise you: The entire reason that the Lia/Gale fic was finished, besides a couple of people Rolanposting, was because my Shepard and her relationship live in my head so rent free it disturbed my plans for a replay.
