Happy Diwali!
A ribbon wreath for our front door!
A stencil and some metallic paint jazzed up our foyer!
Dino-themed birthday for my 3 year old baby boy!
We met up with our wonderful friends this weekend for a reunion trip at a lake house. The weather was gorgeous and we had a fabulous time! As a special treat for all the kiddos, in made them these name frames. Not only do they have their names in devanagari script, it also has the meaning of their name. I enjoyed making these!

Peacock revisited
The joys of a project turning out so much nicer than one can imagine! I bought wall siding from Home Depot - 8 feet of it - and some sample paint colors that matched our rug. My super creative friend, A, sent me this gorgeous peacock image that I drew on with chalk and painted it with an acrylic metallic gold. This may be, by far, my favorite project. The buyers who bought our home paid for this piece, so it will have to be replicated in some way again.
I was inspired by another blog to make my own pendant lampshade. http://www.designertrapped.com/diy-pendant-light/ I bought a large shade from IKEA and covered it with matching fabric for the room. Lined it with a contrasting green ribbon and voila! An affordable, custom pendant lamp! I’m soon going to attempt a new one for my dining room in our new house (yes, we’ve moved AGAIN!)
‘No strings attached’ - version 2! This time I took into account the paint on the walls and the furniture. I have always been in love with this blue/green color combination. Once the nails are up, this is an easy DIY project!
We moved last year around this time into a beautiful house in Austin and I was in DIY heaven. My son’s nursery was decorated in an Up Up and Away theme. I had seen decals of these hot air balloons but my mentor inspired me to make 3D versions that were so much cooler. Oh the places we will go!
I transferred a photo of my daughter to plywood using Modge Podge. The result was very professional and the process was almost too easy! Here’s how: Items needed - a 1/2 inch plywood board of the size of the photo (mine was 12x12), a glossy photo print, acrylic paint, modge podge, sandpaper, a couple of brushes
First, sand the edges and surface of the wooden board. Then, paint the edges and a little on the front in case the picture doesn’t cover the entire front surface (mine didn’t!). When the paint is dry, put Modge Podge all over the front surface and put the photo down face up. Once that is dry, layer Modge Podge all over the top of the photograph. Let it dry overnight. That’s it - the result is a canvas-like photo that can be hung. A wonderful gift idea, too!
For a friend's 30th birthday party, I made a tote bag for each family that attended with their monogram on it in Devnagri. I used wonder under, a batik fabric and ordered tote bags from Amazon. The result was quite satisfactory! And I've made at least 10 bags since for people who want one after seeing this picture :)
