Peggy carefully controlled her expression at the news that she would be extremely confined, at least in her mind. There was a difference between being cautious and ridiculous, and she found most of this ridiculous. She would not be treated like a child in these new surroundings. She got enough of that at home, and strangers did not need to do that too.
“You make it sound like I cannot take care of myself enough to make sure I am returned alive. I assure you that I can make sure I will return home alive and there is no need for you to worry so much,” she argued calmly. This was tiring at this point, and he wouldn’t deal with this maturely… At least, to her it was.
“The best room is not my concern at the moment. I simply need somewhere to be comfortable and I can handle myself from there,” she retorted. She wouldn’t follow the schedule anyways though. “I do see functional, but I also see that you are being over protective, Mr. Fury. I am perfectly capable of handling my own.”
Fury sighed and tried to control his frustration, but that wasn’t happening. “The only reason why I’m keep you locked up like this is because you’re still alive in 2015. You’re old and senile, and that’s how Steve Rodgers sees you.” He was practically yelling at this point. For a woman so brilliant, is practically a genius, she was so utterly stupid right now.
Fury got up and walked over to his bar to pour himself another drink. He needed one...so bad. “And I would honestly love for you to reunite and be in love again, but he’s working on a very important mission and I don’t think he could handle seeing you like..” He motioned to her, “that.” Peggy was all young and sarcastic, just how Steve left her.
“And i’m highly aware that you are highly capable taking care of yourself and you don’t need anyone to act like an older brother to you, but I’m putting someone with you to protect you because there are things happening out there that are way over your head.” He explained still trying to keep his emotions under control.
