Darce !
“Yeah yeah yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it.” Despite the accusatory tone, it’s playful and she smiles to prove it. “How long until you’re out again? Think you’ll be back in time for Christmas?” It’s a couple months down the road, but… better to plan early, right? “I’m surprised S.H.I.E.L.D. let you go without a lot of trouble.”
“Actually, unless the skies are falling, I won’t be back out until the new year. Coulson’s giving me a break after that last one, and I have to be honest, I need it. I think he knows it, too. Things get rough out there. Easy to fall back into old habits. I need some time to remember how to not be a fighter, a survivor, and just live,” Kita replied, giving Darcy a small smile. The last mission had gotten more out of hand than anyone would have liked, but at least it was over. Time for a reprieve.
“Got myself set up with a little apartment. It’s small, but I prefer the coziness, y’know. You’re welcome over, anytime. I do believe we have several shows to catch up on, or at least, I do.”
@hameya
Teeth bared, even as a woman she often appeared wolfish, her amber eyes glinting in the bright sun. She was uncomfortable here, in the open. She preferred to fight her enemies from the shadows. It was easier, a snap of the jaws and a broken neck.
"You look like that sniper we offed in that scientist hostage debacle.” Her mouth twisted into a nasty grin. "Oh, you must be Fareeha.”She spoke as though she was surprised, though she obviously wasn’t.
"Okay, so you're going to have to catch me up. I know it's been a while--and I know I say this every time but Darcy, I swear it won't be this long between chats again." How many times had the woman made that promise now? Life kept her busy. Freelance mercenary work was a busy business. Avoiding Coulson, almost as tedious.
Flashing Darcy a grin, she took a swig of coffee. "I forget how much I miss this until I'm back."

She nudged him gently with her nose. Kid, come on. It’s freezing out here. You’ve gotta get up. Come inside. Miller’s waiting for you. He’s been waiting for hours. You said you were coming over. “Buttercup” shoved at him this time, digging her nose under his back well enough to flip him over. Oh, you stupid, stupid kid.
It was over. Why’d you do it, kid? Don’t you know what you’ve done? She wanted to be angry but there wasn’t any fire in her chest. Only emptiness. A little hole in her heart that she had reserved for one of two people in this world who mattered anymore. And he was gone. Miller is gonna be heartbroken. Damnit, kid.
Shifting back into a human shape, she picked him up and cradled him in her arms. When did you get so big, runt? Closing her eyes for a moment, she began the trek back to Miller’s.

Snow Tracker by Steve McKinzie
Blood dripped from the wolf’s jaws as she tossed the last guard in her way aside, gold eyes scanning the room to make sure no one else stood between her and escape. Two months she had been in this prison, gathering the intel she needed. A high enough bid had been made for the information that it was worth the time and effort in the end. It certainly wasn’t enough to retire, but it was enough.
A short trek through the wilderness outside of the prison led her to a river and she gladly threw herself in, washing off the blood and mud that had accumulated in her fur. Satisfied that she wouldn’t be seen here, Kita shifted back into her human form, cargo pants and blank tank that she had smuggled into the prison now cleaned just as her fur by the water. She wouldn’t draw inordinate amounts of attention like this, except that the prison breakout had certainly made the news by now, so she kept to the woods near the roads, out of sight of any but the keenest eye.
stream alert
about to stream me drawin’ my darling Kita.
come hang out with me you fools.
Kita tread quietly through the dark New York streets, pawsteps soft as falling leaves, interrupted only by quick skiffle into an alleyway as someone passed her by and she attempted to remain unseen. She’d long since become accustomed to such a life, hiding in the shadows, out of sight. With HYDRA gone, truly gone, she had no where left to go. The Inhumans would likely not be interested in harboring a wanted fugitive in their midst.
Typically she kept to herself, not stirring up trouble, but tonight she aimed to replenish her dwindling funding. A giant wolf in a convenience store tended to scatter the customers, and it worked just as well tonight, as per usual. Massive paws dragged the register to the floor, causing it to crash open onto the ground.
How was he supposed to brawl with a giant wolf? He could hardly win in a fist fight if the wolf was a big as he’d anticipated by its slow, dragging pawsteps. As soon as it entered the convenience store, he hopped through the window of the apartment above and made his way down the stairs in complete silence, and slowly crouched as he came to the back exit of the store. There, he stopped, and listened closely to the beast for a few seconds. He didn’t know how to handle it just yet.
As soon as the store cleared out, Kita leapt onto the countertop and tore down the security camera. Satisfied no one could see her, she shifted back into her human form and gathered the cash up, putting it in a backpack she had stashed in a corner behind the store's ATM earlier that day.
She put on a hat from a rack in the store afterwards to cover her face from outside cameras, slinging the backpack over her shoulders. It was a little less than five hundred dollars she had managed to grab, and it would do for the time being.

I'll be on to do these this afternoon!
@shiftedwolf || Omfg yes.
What do you do when there’s a grizzly-sized wolf heading your way? In Rafe’s case, aim and be ready to squeeze the trigger. Repeatedly. Do I have a full magazine in this thing?? Too late to question it now. Don’t lower the gun. If this thing charges, shoot it. Now, Rafe wasn’t known for his incredible bravery and now was not the right moment to let any hidden courage shine. No, instead, he began taking slow steps backwards away from the canine in hopes he’d be able to slip away completely unnoticed. That was, of course, until he kicked the rock behind him with his heel and collapsed straight on his rear with a hiss and his body froze, muscles tensed and… Green eyes slowly rolled back towards the dog, lips parted in a desperate attempt to try and steady his breathing. “Shit.”
She hadn't meant to terrify the man, but it was a great bonus to the otherwise drab day. Kita sat down and let out a barking laugh as the man landed on his ass in front of her. It was, perhaps, the funniest thing she had seen that day--probably that week. She was accustomed to people reacting poorly to her presence but this was something else entirely. 'Pathetic' is the word you're looking for.
Time for some more fun. "Was that an interjection or an announcement?" she asked, giving him a toothy grin.
Her eyes narrowed, offense shining in them. Far from feeling nothing, Kita felt everything. Her emotions were violent, thrown from place to place, extreme to extreme, and her reactions matched. Beyond that, the woman’s heart was bitter, aching with pain from years past. She seemed unable to let go.
The mercenary stepped closer to him. “You’re pushing your luck, kid,” she growled. “So unless you want to be added to the list of people I plan on ripping limb from limb, I suggest you back off.” As though he was the one who started this.
“Or what sweet pea? Cuz not for nothing, but you’re either severely overestimating what you think you’re capable of or you’re underestimating what I’m capable of.”
There’s a snide and rather sharp tone he takes, his silver tongued nature of dancing around harsh realities making him rather dastardly in appearance indeed. Now he was certain she’d attack first but that’s only more ammo in defending himself.
“And f.y.i. it ain’t polite to refer to me as kid, mostly cuz I’m a legal adult, and there’s only one person I let call me that.”
There’s a playful wink.
“So I suggest you not push your luck…cuz the last person who threatened to lay a finger on the house of Drake…well lets just say he won’t be doin’ much threatening anymore.”
The woman practically bristled at the other's words. She wasn't particularly tolerant on a good day and... well, she didn't really have good days. "I'm guessing Drake never mentioned me then," she snarled back. Or so she hoped. It gave her an edge if push came to shove here.
Kita snorted and rolled her eyes. If she wasn't so pissed, she might have been impressed by Karter's spunk. "Last chance, kid. Before I slit your throat and leave you for your dad to find."
“You’re no fun,” Kita commented, but there was no humor to her voice. A chill had entered the air between them. “Anyways, he’s simply the first. I have other targets afterwards… a Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher near the top of the list.” She flashed that same snarlish grin, knowing full well who she was provoking. Her quarrel wasn’t with Karter Kane, but she would gladly drag him into it.
“And you’re a sociopath, it’s fun stating facts isn’t it? Now would ya kindly step away please, you’re gettin’ your crazy all over my new jacket.”
He momentarily ignores the mention of Nate and Elena, practically finding her vendetta laughable but preferring not to test her psychotic reach and more just keeping his distant.
“Now if you’re done being kookoo crazy I’d like to get back to my life that doesn’t involve you and your crazy fuckin’ antics thanks.”

“Therapy. I don’t remember stuttering when I said that.”
He’s rather unresponsive, a roll of his eyes as he grunts quietly. Quite frankly he didn’t even want to be a part of this conversation. Violence wasn’t exactly his favorite thing, especially when unprovoked.

“I think you need therapy.”
@shiftedwolf
She bared her teeth, (or was it a smile?) stalking closer. "Oh, come now, last I checked he was no friend of yours. What is it to you if he dies a slow and painful death?" Her gold eyes didn't leave his, watching him keenly.
