If Peter was able to fully shift to an actual wolf form, he would neither look like his sister or Derek. Bald spots would fully litter his right side from his hind leg all the way to his snout, the edge of his ear scarred with pink flesh reaching all the way into the ear canal. Instead of shiny black fur, his would have streaks of his natural hair color in it, a dirty brown that looks like it has been randomly thrown in instead of easily blending in. Even under light the coat appears dull and unkempt. Besides his obvious burn marks, the blue iris of his right eye is clouded, not fully blind but irreversible damaged despite werewolf healing. There's always a faint scent of burned flesh and smoke on him as well regardless how often he would take a bath in a nearby river.
How did Laura experienced her transformation after being bitten ? Did her new physical features appeared immediately ou gradually ? Was she terrified and wanted to hide her new traits, like her fangs and body hairs, or did she actually enjoy it ?
Thanks for your work, love your art !
Thank you so much!!
And Laura's first transformation was actually after she killed the monks in the abbey, letting go of her inhibitions and mental shackles. It was in equal parts thanks to the meat she had ingested that gave her the strength to fully transform for the first time.
As for her post-bite state, she was in the 18th century French village equivalent of intensive care for two weeks. People were shocked by the physical changes that had occurred, mostly her teeth and body hair, and her eyes which seemed odd and wild. Laura wasn't very cognizant during that time, but after she started to recover, she was extremely ashamed and distressed about the changes to her body. She didn't let anyone approach her too close or see her nude. It's important to note that Laura had suppressed her lycanthropy the best she could for several years in her attempt at salvation.
Back to her first transformation, she was once again in a completely unhinged state of mind; her wolf form was done out of pure instinct, which is why it looks so stretched out and disproportionate, and it specifically sprouted from under her skin, like a deformation of her own body into a more bigger, dangerous beast.
Now, she is very unabashed about her body — or, at least, the lycanthropic traits she has.
I know that Hellsing lore is not exactly comprehensive (unless that has changed ever since I watched it) show people make things up themselves sometimes so how do you see werewolves being like? As in is Laura's temperament and behavior common of her kind? I've seen the argument that wolves and the humans both are social animals so werewolf packs are likely, would that be the case, and would she feel drawn or avoidant to the idea?
Hellsing's werewolves are very mysterious to the point we know nothing of them. However we do know one thing: they're almost extinct, as seen by Alucard being surprised by seeing the Captain in the Dawn.
So, on that note, it is statistically impossible for them to form packs, at least considering they seem to be nearly extinct in Europe.
However, I'd say that they are. If we go full headcanon, one could imagine that maybe they hunt in packs, and that's why they went extinct, because hunters knew how to track them down due to being in groups. Or maybe they work with the idea that if you kill one wolf, it kills the ones they infected. But if that's true, I'd have to change up some details in Laura's backstory a little. The Captain himself seems to be rather willing to work in a group. Even if he doesn't react at anything at all and doesn't speak or even grunt, he's willing to live and work alongside others, like sharing a booklet with Schrödinger or driving the Major around, and even sparing Heinkel when he could've killed them. It is however hard to conclude due to the lack of information we have.
That being said, Laura isn't a pack animal. She's a lone wolf, both literally and figuratively, and she hates other werewolves, both due to being territorial (there were no other monsters in every region she resided in due to her disliking the thought of another predator taking her food) and to her trauma of being bitten. She wouldn't react well to the Captain or any of her kind; however, she still feels more kinship with them and other monsters than she ever would with humans and would prefer their company over that of people.
Laura's personality as a werewolf is very inspired by a role in the French game Les Loup-Garous de Thiercelieux: Le loup blanc, or 'the white wolf'.
Les Loup-Garous de Thiercelieux is a game with the same basis as the Mafia game or the Werewolf game in English: a group of players sit in a circle with a DM that assigns everyone a secret role with special abilities and stuff happens at night when someone is killed and the group tries to vote out the killer, and the good guys try to win against the bad guys and vice versa.
This card specifically is from the upgraded edition called 'Nouvelle Lune' (New Moon). Unlike the other werewolves that aim to kill all the villagers and win alongside their kin, the white wolf is one of the few cards that aims to win the game alone. The white wolf wakes up alongside the other werewolves and votes for a villager to get eaten, and the werewolves think he's one of their kind; however, one out of two nights, the white wolf devours another werewolf. If anything, this character's quote sums up Laura as a monster very well:
"Je hais tout le monde, et tout le monde me hait. Voyons laquelle de nos haines sera la plus ardente."
("I hate everyone, and everyone hates me. Let's see which one of our hatred burns the brightest.")
