So there's this cool AU called @shifter-au about Papyrus being a shapeshifter that feeds on love and is trying to keep his identity a secret (Flowey knows though).

I had this idea floating around my head for a while and I was gonna pitch it to @leshyleaf before remembering I can actually draw it myself now.

Go check out Leshy's art, they have this sweet cartoony style that looks great in their comic.

yooo you’re right on the money with this! I haven’t touched on it at all, but in my version of the au at least, shifters do have a sort of…sixth sense for feelings of love and affection. (you should be able to smell your food, haha.) also, I love this dialogue and your artstyle so much aaaahh

Ok so I had like little idea in my head about the shifter au, so we know when genocide happens, Papyrus joins Frisk's party and sabotages there chance of kill the rest of the underground. Then Frisk meet sans in the judgment hall and Frisk strikes sans down when he's exhausted but Papyrus takes the hit instead to protect his bro.

Soooooooo... Like what happens after words. Also I like to believe that Papyrus remembers the resets but sans doesn't. So in this lil comic I made is about how Frisk continue this behavior and tries to kill Sans but Papyrus had enough and fights Frisk.

Killing them and shatters there soul. Papyrus stills believes in them but it crosses the line when it comes to his brother.

So I noticed that "Papyrus" in shifter form has one eye and when taking forms of Flowey or Annoying Dog, one eye is missing in those forms. But... when taking on Papyrus' form, it looks like he has two sockets.

How does this work?

Yessss good question.

So, a shifter’s host form is a direct copy of their host. Of course, papyrus would still look like a seven year old if this stayed true, but shifting their host forms ever so slightly as time passes to simulate aging is something that their biology allows, because if they didn’t evolve to do that, they’d be found out pretty quick lol.

Anyway, because their host forms are copies, papyrus has the og pap’s two eye sockets. However, any other form they shift into are created by the shapeshifters themselves usually, and therefore can sometimes contain more features that the shifter actually has. (Like a truer reflection).

So, yeah! If he were copying somebody with two or more eyes, he might expend that little extra effort to add another eye in there. However, when he’s just hopping around as a dog, or a mouse, or a flower, he may just let his eye naturally just not be there. (Considering he always sees like he only has one eye, he may not even notice he’s doing this lol)

As for Sans, I imagine he went through a somewhat rebellious “screw authority!” phase at some point growing up. (I mean. Imo you could count ‘growing up’ itself as an embarrassing phase LOL.)

Papyrus having to raise a child by himself probably wasn’t easy. It’s impossible to get along all the time, and it’s especially hard when you’re both just kids trying to figure the world out. They’ve had their bad days for sure.
