it takes a moment for the word ‘club’ to click in this context, and a sense of confusion yawns over her. ❝ i’m a transfer student. ❞ she states. ❝ what club could i possibly join halfway through the year ? ❞ her curiosity is lost in her judgement, and asuka will inevitably lie awake at night thinking it over. for now, she throws her bag over her shoulder and follows him towards the door.

asuka raises a single brow. he asks, so easy, while everyone else skirts around the obvious. she’s almost impressed. ❝ pleased to meet you, probably. ❞ there’s a little lilt to her lips. ❝ i’m asuka, but you probably knew that already. we can skip the weird formalities. ❞ it’s far too jarring to go by her last name, anyway. she lifts a shoulder, her smile growing a little more mischievous. ❝ but i can figure things out on my own. really, you treat this place as if it has child locks. thanks for the offer. ❞ she adds.

from what everyone has been whispering about this poor girl, he was told that she wasn’t very nice. but that didn’t stop takuto from approaching her, to welcome he because everyone deserves a chance right? besides, he wasn’t the type of guy to believe in lame rumors unless he went to the source. but that didn’t mean that he wasn’t going to be a little nervous around her. she was still pretty cute. ❝ are you doing okay? finding your classes? i’m here if you need any help, miss. ❞ they did sit beside each other after all.

the steady presence of other people in a bustling classroom is enough to anchor asuka to the ground. who cares if she’s stuck in a grade she’s far too advanced for ? who cares if she has to interact with people purely because she’s pretty and foreign and new ? ( well, asuka cares, but we all like to tell ourselves otherwise ) . ❝ i’m fine, thanks. ❞ she says with an air of confidence, despite the wary look she shoots his way. ❝ i mean, how hard can it be to find numbered rooms ? ❞

      faye feels RESIGNED with the world & it’s harsh climate for taking things from women. her NON-EXISTENT past is an example of that, a question she just wants answers to. ❛ i think the world likes to give us a SLAP of reality so it can keep us in check, no matter how good we are. you should know your place. ❜ the dark haired woman wishes she knew, but for now she’s just happily traveling with her crew. ❛ men are so LOUSY, they never want to admit when a woman’s right. it’s their egos. we’re better in every way. ❜ she wishes she could drink to that since she doesn’t think men were anything but idiots. ❛ at least you’re learning early never to EXPECT anything from anyone. you can only rely on yourself. i didn’t learn that until later. ❜ faye takes the moment to LIGHTLY tap the ash watching it float downwards to the tray provided for her. ❛i can relate, it’s just a MESS. i’m faye.❜

asuka wishes she knew what her place is. piloting unit-02 is one thing, but she’s not foolish enough to believe it’s something that will last forever. she’s built herself around the evangelion being a constant in her life when that’s simply not the case at all. so it begs the question: who is asuka without the evangelion ?

❝ they’ll never have to work twice as hard at something just to be recognised. the world owes them everything. ❞ she pushes her straw around moodily. her lips twist sourly. ❝ men wrote history – men write the world, so of course it’s going to make them look good. it makes me sick. ❞ she shouldn’t have to rely on herself. somewhere deep in her heart she knows this like truth, just as she knows that she is the only one who will get herself happiness.

she can’t rely on anyone else.

she shifts her gaze to faye’s face. the world is too cruel to let asuka focus on anyone but herself, but every now and then she gets the quiet reprieve she deserves. ❝ i’m asuka. ❞
