Having recently become a fan of the book after receiving it as a birthday gift, I was very excited about this film, the way the book was written was so unique and painted a terrifying and realistic picture of what a Zombie Apocalypse may be like in the present day.So as soon as I was able to I rushed off to see World War Z in the local cinema, and left after watching the film in conflict.

Staring Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings) and Reece Shearsmith (Shaun of the Dead), The Cottage tells the story of brothers David and Peter who decide to kidnap the young Step-Daughter, Tracey (played by Jennifer Ellison) of a small time crime boss so they can use the ransom for their own needs, namely to make their lives better.

As the title says, Small Faces came out of Glasgow, filmed in Glasgow, funded by the Glasgow Film Fund and based on one of the darkest times in Glasgow’s recent history.

Now don’t be thinking this a film about the Boy Wonder that runs around with Batman and goes by the name Robin, this film is darker and so much more real.

Another found-footage movie, sort of. Prank tells the story of three nerds, Connor, Jordan and Chunk, who have been pushed to far by a couple of bullies in their neighbourhood. They hatch an elaborate plan to prank them while recording the whole planning of the prank, and the execution of the prank so they can later upload it on to YouTube as revenge.

Based on an an earlier film of the same name, Maniac tells the story of Frank (played brilliantly by Elijah Wood), a mannequin restorer who is also a psychotic serial killer who likes to scalp his female victims.

I’ve never been a huge fan of these “found-footage” films, never watched Blairwitch and only seen a couple of the Paranormal Activity films. I can’t say why I’m not a huge fan, I guess it’s the whole “staring at the screen waiting for something to happen” thing that bugs me about them.
