quick tutorial on how to âcopy/pasteâ poses into another blend file with @vyxated's ea rigplus
for those who have all their poses in separate files like me because thereâs no tutorials on it for some reason
DISCLAIMER: this does NOT go over how to make poses, work the rigplus, or navigate blender!!!
// before we proceed, prepare the following:
blend file containing your pose with a timeline window open (hereafter referred to as [BLEND A])
blend file containing the rigplus for the pose to be âpastedâ into with an asset browser window open (hereafter referred to as [BLEND B])
// ok letâs get on with the actual tutorial now
in [BLEND A], insert a keyframe with BOTH rigs visible. make sure the normal rig is still selected! (for good measure, i like to clear my keyframes for both rigs to make sure i donât have any duplicates or anything)
hide the normal rig and select the rigplus. then, in your timeline window, click âcopy pose as assetâ.
without closing [BLEND A], open [BLEND B]. in your asset browser, switch the library from âallâ to âcurrent fileâ. then on the header, click âasset > paste as new assetâ.
hide the normal rig and select the rigplus (again). right click on your newly created pose asset, hit âapply poseâ, and profit (donât forget to keyframe again as you normally would!)

i canât paste the pose as a new asset!
make sure you do NOT close the blend file youâre copying the pose from! leave it open until after youâve added the pose to the asset library.
when i try to apply the pose, nothing happens!
this is probably because you didnât have the right rig selected. after inserting a keyframe, make sure the normal rig is hidden and the rigplus is selected when you copy the pose!

this is the method i figured out when i was making my first all-in-one pose animation. copy-pasting poses as you would with the normal rig doesn't work with the rigplus, so i fiddled around a bit until i came up with this!

this mod replaces the animations for phone calls, adding four new poses, with different ones for each gender.
age groups:Â teenagers to elders.
included poses:
sitting on dining or desk chairs
sitting on sofas or living chairs
animations on all other surfaces will remain as they are.
all transitions are smooth! you might notice slight clipping at the start or end of the animations, but it shouldn't affect gameplay.
also you should know:
if your sim is pregnant, the animation might not look good with the belly. unfortunately, i donât know how to fix it in this mod, but i hope it wonât bother you too much.
i did not modify the animation for "video calls".
if you have the "cupid's heart" expansion pack, the "flirt" action on the phone will also use the new poses.
p.s. i made this override as an addition to my previous mod, "extended phone calls", after my sims started calling everyone 24/7, i thought they should do it in a cuter way! :)

This mod is an alternative to "No Macabre Pose in UI" - pick one.
A few people wondered if I can make a mod similar to "Trait Based Portrait Thumbnails" but for in-game UI thumbnails.
Here's why I didn't want to do this initially:
The pose that is used for the UI is used all over the game, in the household panel (neutral/fine mood), relationship panel, sim picker menu, main menu etc. Overriding one overrides the others.
A trait based pose where the moods go doesn't make quite sense since (emotional) personality traits and moods overlap and this could be confusing: A hotheaded sim would look angry in his default/"fine" state, a gloomy sim sad, a romantic sim flirty.
Another issue I see is that trait based poses in general are somewhat of a spoiler. Normally you need to discover a sims personality, here you see it at a glance. I think this is particularly bad for the relationship panel. (And this is one of the reasons why I think that the macabre pose is silly and a weird choice.)
Anyways I figured I could do an option that is a bit more subtle and still accomplishes a similar goal:
I made three personality dimensions: One for traits associated with positive emotion (cheerful, good etc.), one for traits accociated with negative emotion (gloomy, mean etc.) and a neutral for in-between.
For the positive and negative emotional dimensions I made two new poses that go along with it. One is a bit more smiley than the default, the other one more of a straight face. I left EAs default pose for all other traits in-between. (The traits I assigned are displayed in the cover picture above.)
This mod will work for adults (teen-elder) and kids (for traits that are shared by kids and adults).

Notes:
This mod is an override of the file 81112DE1AD5B55F6/MoodUI_Thumbnails and conflicts with "No Macabre Pose in UI". It's an alternative to this mod. Pick the mod you prefer and remove the other one.
However, this mod can be used alongside "Trait Based Portrait Thumbnails". Both mods include trait overrides that partially overlap but it doesn't matter in this case since the overlapping files are identical. (I thought about splitting these mods into modules such that the trait file would be standalone but figured this would be unneccessarily confusing.) Same as "Trait Based Portrait Thumbnails" this mod might conflict with other mods overriding the same traits though.
Behaviour: I tested this a bit and it seems that, unlike for "Trait Based Portrait Thumbnails", for the in-game UI thumbnails the game will randomly choose which pose to apply when there are multiple matching traits. In general, the game will prioritize poses I have assigned to the positive/negative emotional traits and only use the default pose when there are none. However, when using this mod alongside "Trait Based Portrait Thumbnails", which has some additional trait overrides, it can happen that, for whatever reason, these extra traits get prioritized and therefore the default pose will be picked instead. I didn't find a way to do anything about this.
Current game bug (not a mod issue):
It seems that the game currently is regenerating thumbnails each time you restart the game, even when the thumbnails already exist in the file localthumbcache, thus unneccessarily slowing down the game and bloating up this file. I tested this with no mods, with basegame only, in a fresh save, with the thumbnail config file reset to factory settings and it's still happening. Also added my findings to this bug report. If you noticed the same issue, please hit "me too".
If EA ever fixes the issue:
You might need to delete the file localthumbcache to let the game generate new thumbnails, otherwise you only see the changes when the game decides to update the thumbnails next time the sim changes.
So this is somewhat of an experiment still, but I wanted to put it out there, tell me what you think đ
For the Life and Death expansion pack a trait based pose for the new Macabre trait was added - weirdly enough EA did this for this trait only which makes no sense to me (not sure what future plans hold) and I also wasn't quite happy with the way this was done.
On the one hand this pose is all over the UI (mod for it here) looking very out of place, especially being the only trait based pose.
But I like the idea of poses matching the personality style of the sims and wish they had done this one properly. So I expanded on the idea making use of the new feature by adding more trait based poses. I focussed here on portrait thumbnails (Household pictures) only though. I originally wanted to put this to use for custom (group) poses made for the Gallery but sadly, to make this work, I need to override traits which flags sims as CC. This renders the whole enterprise rather useless for the Gallery :'( Still nice for in-game though, I think.
In a first step I have assembled these 16 BG traits/poses for adults (will work for teen - elder):
The poses above are based on existing EA poses and animations. I edited them slightly when necessary.
I'm thinking about adding more poses and traits if I can find good options including poses for kids. I'm also open to feedback - If you have any (pose) ideas or suggestions, let me know (>Discord)đ

The game will use the trait based pose when your sim has the trait, no matter the order of the trait. However, when your sim has two or more matching traits, the order counts (first trait that matches will be used).
This mod is an override of the file 606E21551C25836A/"CAS_Portrait_Thumbnails" - same file I'm using for my mods for Gallery poses ("No More Mirroring Mod" and "No Randomization Mod") and will therefore conflict with them.
To make this new feature work, EA introduced a new parameter with the patch that goes inside a trait and can be referenced for the poses. So to make this work for other traits, I had to override the traits to include this new parameter. There's no alternative because a certain type of file (SimData format) is involved that can't be injected to with a script.
Unfortunately, overriding the traits flags sims as CC.
Also note that this mod might therefore conflict with other mods overriding the traits.
A spring/summer floral eyelet dress. This one has been sitting in my WIP folder for years, so I'm glad I get to finally share it with you all. As with all poofy dresses in ts4, the weights aren't perfect but it's as good as it's going to get and shouldn't interfere with gameplay. Hope you enjoy!
