"why is this person drawing sexualized art of hatsune miku, isn't hatsune miku canonically 16?" hatsune miku is a voice bank. she's pretty much an electronic piano that goes Oo Ee Oo. hatsune miku is not a person with a life. nobody is doing CSAM of hatsune miku, because hatsune miku is not a C you can do M featuring SA about. that's a glorified slide whistle on the compyooter. you cannot psychologically abuse a theremin. it's generally agreed to be impossible to traumatize a harmonica. hatsune miku is a nonsapient synthesizer software addon. you can't do child abuse to a nonsapient synthesizer software addon. you cannot. do. child abuse. to a nonsapient. synthesizer. software addon. hello hello hello can anyone hear me
do you understand that drawing a picture of a cartoon software mascot in a swimsuit is a different type of action from abusing a child. that's not the same kind of thing. those are two different types of action. there is no connection between those actions. if someone draws a boob that person is not now guilty of assaulting a minor. do you understand. do you understand. do you understand. do you understand.
@iceflame248 interesting.
a critique that always irks me a little is when people say a fictional gay male relationship is actually being written as a lesbian relationship, like first of all what does that even mean and second of all a good chunk of the time it seems like people are only saying that because the men are emotionally vulnerable with each other
many out there, even among my fellow lgbtqs, seem to hold a “hotcock” view of gay relationships
I understand where they're coming from, but chalking up the disproportionate amount of M/M on Ao3 to misogyny feels a little like saying the reason there's so many girl characters in gacha games is because the devs hate men
Ok nevermind I just scrolled past a very long post about how the horse gacha is actually very feminist for being all women and wanting a hot boys in your horse gacha is male entitlement in women's spaces. I fear we may not survive the winter here.
A lot of people who write about fandom and gender really don't seem to know what to do with the fact that large portions of male nerds are almost exclusively interested in female characters.
Sometimes those men self-insert as love interests to the girls, and sometimes not. Sometimes those 'men' turn out to be trans women, and sometimes not.
it annoys me when a character is visibly androgynous and then when their gender is revealed people immediately start drawing them in a manner that is extremely hyperfeminized or hypermasculinized. BOOOOO 🍅
someone who is attempting to put their fav male character in a blender will say you hate your fav female character if you put her in a slight angst scenario, don’t let this deter you, she deserves the blender as well
the thing is i inherently don't trust statements like "tumblr comes up with new ways to be misogynistic" from tumblr users i'm unfamiliar with not because it's not true but because 90% of the time people who say this are talking about people liking yaoi or having weird kinks or not caring enough about their Preferred Character (or in some cases people literally just Being Transmasc) rather than the absurd amount of radical feminism that has snuck its way into the foundations of this website and the way in manifests in fandom spaces toward real life actual people so.
I think once you start tagging the main fandom in your vent posts about what you think is canon or not you should be shot on sight
“well I’m autistic and—“ there’s a cop living inside your head & your interpretation isn’t the only one allowed to exist no matter how hard you’re projecting onto those characters
I think it's unfair that dressing boys in maid outfits is more popular than dressing girls in butler outfits. There should be solidarity and equality.
you don’t need to make a canonically male character a girl to draw them w breasts!!! you can just do that!!!! btw
I actually do think it’s better for abusers and abusive characters to realize the harm their past actions caused and seek to do better than be literally or metaphorically executed for their crimes

I'm going to be brutally, bluntly honest and vulnerable for a moment.
I don't have any positive familial connections. I don't have any mothers or fathers, or sisters or brothers or aunts or uncles or cousins who were supportive, or caring, or loving, open or gently teasing to me.
That's why I don't understand at all what people are feeling when they say "I can't ship them, they're like siblings!" or "he's like a father to her" etc.
I can't look at a relationship between two characters-- who are not blood related-- who are supportive, caring, loving, dependable, open or gently teasing and see a relationship that somehow feels romantically taboo.
I look at a relationship that is caring, loving, open, teasing, comfortable, etc and I see romance.
I genuinely don't have a yardstick to evaluate what people are seeing when they see a relationship like that and it makes them uncomfortable to ship because it reminds them of their family. I don't know what that feels like.
And that's why I ship so many things that people call "sibling coded" or "found family" etc. Because I don't look at them and see family.
I look at them and I see the people who saved me from my family.
your f/o hates your shitty family members btw. they're not going to try to make you feel bad because "they're still family" or something, they hate them at least as much as you do
Love me a character that goes "Don't just internalize your trauma. Externalize it. Make your trauma everyone else's problem. Murder some guys about it maybe. And whatever you do, never ever stop being interpersonally unpleasant to be around."
Give me a bitch that sucks and I'm all over them.
i think we as a society need to start accepting that fictional love stories need to be a bit toxic for us to go insane over them… like, sometimes you kinda need the two parties to be obsessed with each other and fucked up and willing to bring each other back from the dead instead of moving on and go to therapy i’m sorry😔
this is a thing I've been thinking about that I struggle to put into words but I really feel like the internet has created a blurring of the line between "public" and "private" that our language hasn't really caught up with
there's obviously a difference between say, putting a poster up on a public noticeboard, airing something on the radio, and making posts on a internet blog with a niche audience that you have to actively follow to see the content of, but all of those fall under the word "public"
and then you have moral panics about people "posting hard kink in public" and "in public" just means, on their internet blog that you had to seek out and follow to receive a feed of content from. which doesn't feel like the same kind of "public" that people meant before the internet
truly nothing funnier than having an archive of when you first started getting into a media that has since consumed your entire life
you see an old post of yours thats dated like a month after you got introduced to Media and it says like “huh im kinda liking Blorbo Bingus? but he’s not really my favorite. he seems sillyyy though he’s neat i’m sure he’s nice :)” and you just
