Tomodachi Game just ended and the ending was marvelous.
Each of us in the comments were literally gripping our seat as the ending is coming near, to which direction, we don't dare to assume but least to say it was chaos.
Spoiler warning so go back if you don't want that. Sorry that I'm like gone, gone and then come back only to scream and ramble about Tomodachi Game because I can't help it
Literally we were going ballistic because I damn sure am if they dare to end it with an open ending like ORV or with Yuuichi dying but that was the perfect ending I kid you not. That was the most satisfying ending that I end up let out a scream while covering my face because GODDAMN
I feel like it was such a good building up like in the end everything just piece together, and I don't know if it was me who take it wrong but with Yuka being the last and true traitor was something none of us would expect. Like the story would point and make it obvious that something is stinky around that but the way it build up, no one is suspicious about her.
Because Yuuichi paints her as the ultimate kind that become his moral compass and teach him how important friendship is. Which is, at the ending, was the whole point of the story. He convinced everyone of his lie, even the readers, telling us again of how much of a swindler he is.
All this time, Yuuchi had been betting on himself. Even though Kei explained him as being a cold-hearted person, an insane person who bet even on if his friends betray him, it didn't change the fact that Yuuichi bets everything on his friends all the time.
Just as Kei said, Yuuichi is a broken kid. He is broken beyond repair that met kindness he believe to be a goodness in the world. Even if it's a lie, he wanted to believe it. In something wonderful called friendship.
Till the end, Yuuichi stick into that lie, into that selfish lie, both created by Yuka and himself, Yuuichi bet everything on his friends. Every. Single. Game.
He didn't despair when he found out the truth, because that's how he is. He's broken. That's why he choose to kill Yuka to let the lie prevail. And how he desperate to prove that lie is the truth he choose by betting his life.
He created a situation similar to what Yuka was in. It was the exact similar way that akin to a parallel to the past and guess what? He did it.
His friends choose friendship, because that is what they feel from the bottom of their heart even after finding everything out. Something that don't even influence his own group of friend, but even Kei, and to certain extent, perhaps Satone as well seeing how she still stick around until the end.
Yuuichi's friends choose to save him even until the end even though all of them are now financially struggling except Shiho, despite knowing he killed his mother and her unborn child which reason although they might have found out but nothing is certain yet.
They saw what kind of monster he is but they still choose to save him. Meanwhile Yuka was an angel in mask, with her four other friends all in love with her, yet she failed.
One could say she succeed, but considering how much each of them suffer and have the thoughts of backing away? Compared to his friends that worked through perhaps their lowest, to pay off the medical bills?
It's a complete and thorough win from Yuuichi and it was so satisfying out of every life/money psychology story I've ever read like sorry Kamisama no Iiutori, Tomodachi game is officially my favorite psychological thriller. It has been but this just sealed it to the end.
