More of the dark rise kids in modern highschool!
As much as I love angsty aus, they've endured enough in canon.
“my name is laurent of vere. you killed my brother. prepare to die.”
fox women celebrating based on that one clip of christiane endler picking up her teammates
(click for better quality)
love at first sight, if Auguste did live.
oh damen we’re really in it now.mp4
The look on Pacat's face while sitting there all chill in Poland while dropping on us once again that the enemies to lovers element in the Dark Rise trilogy is going to be:
More intense
More disturbing
Even worse than it was in Captive Prince
Oh, we are so in the right hands with Pacat! Book 3 is going to end us.

Full quote:
"I really like these tense relationships between characters… "And I remember when I was building the relationship between Damen & Laurent and I wanted an enemies to lovers story, and I thought: ‘What’s the worst thing that you could do to someone that would really make them your enemy for life?’ And at that time I thought: ‘Well, what if you killed their brother and then that act left them in hell?’ And that was what I came up with for Captive Prince. "And then I was coming up with the enemies to lovers backstory in Dark Rise and I was like: ‘Oh, I have to come up with something WAY worse than that.’ So I would say, yeah, the connection between the characters is like even worse, even more disturbing, even more intense than the one between Damen & Laurent in Captive Prince."
(And this is so similar to what Pacat said in Sydney last month too! Squee!)
FINALLY DONE
So for those of you who didn’t understand this animation, here is a short explanation:
At first Will tries to figure out how to get the collar off of James. So he tries to access his magic, but he still can’t get that inner door open. Then James comforts him, and they live happily ever after, with no one ever trying to harm them. 🥰
I’ve abandoned this animation soo many times and took lots of breaks, but here we are.
And now that I’ve finished this animation, let’s jump right into the next one. I want to animate an actual scene from the books. But now the question is..WHICH ONE??
Song: Overcome - Safari Riot Remix
Animation Programm: Krita
i finished dark heir this afternoon and this is all i can think
Finally got round to reading Captive Prince and so far the premise seems to be “what would happen if the ancient Greeks/ Romans met the French bourgeoisie?” and this question is promptly answered by “well clearly the French would be the problem”, and honestly, respect.
"This one pleaded for you."
A scene from Captive Prince by @c.s.pacat that wouldn't leave my mind since I read it over a year ago.
"Damen’s eyes fixed on him, and looked nowhere else; his breathing was still noticeable, and his pulse rapid, but anger produced all the same effects." Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat Them staring tensely at each other is my favorite thing to draw, but it's also super hard to get it right.... Probably the last one for a few weeks, because i'm waiting for my friend to come back from vacation so we can dive into the 2nd and 3rd book. (I love love love the slow burn, but i also want to get to the kissy bits !)
"Even before Laurent had hit the ground, the man had drawn his sword. Damen was too far away. He was too far to get between the man and Laurent, he knew that, even as he drew his sword—even as he wheeled his horse, felt the powerful bunch of the animal beneath him. There was only one thing he could do." -Prince's Gambit by C.S.Pacat
and a continuation of the same scene with more spoilers:
When it comes to Enemies to Lovers.... They are the standard
this may be in the top 3 scenes of capri for me
