Creepy Family

As a female employee I’ve gotten all the rude comments. I’ve even had people hang up just to call back hoping a guy would answer. The most offensive thing I’ve ever had happen to me though was while on the sales floor. Trying to help a boy about 12, I walk up with the tablet and ask if he needs any help. While holding GTA V, he asks if there are strippers in the game and if they get naked. I politely answer his question but tell him he’ll need a parent to be able to buy the game. As I go to walk away he hits my butt and yells thanks. Lucky me gets stuck on the register, when he comes up with the game I tell his dad why the game is rated m, he looks me dead in the eye and goes “Well good, I was worried the boy was gay.” After ignoring that comment and grabbing the game which was in the bottom drawer, I hear the father make a comment about my butt and the son goes “Yeah, it’s pretty good. I got a good feel earlier.”

Do You Even Listen?

Two kids that are definitely under 13 come in with their mother. I have seen them once or twice before, so I already know the mother is a bit of a bitch. After looking around for a good 30 minutes, the two kids come up with 4 M rated games. I ask the mother if she is okay with the M rating, and she just stares at me and says nothing. I ask again, and after she says nothing again, the older of the two kids turns around and tells the mother that she has to confirm that it is okay that they get the games. She then yells “Just buy the damn games!” and hands them her ID which they give to me even though the mother has to be at least in her late 30s. I take this as a ‘yes they can buy the games’ and just finish the transaction as fast as I can.

Sigh...

A kid and his mother came into our store with 4 or 5 old Xbox 360 games, like MW2. His total trade came out to about $2. 15 minutes later we get a call from this kid’s grandfather, and he demanded we give back the games because we only gave him $2 for “good games”. We had to explain to him that we have 20+ copies of these games that no one is buying, and he still was pissed.

We ended up selling them back for the same price the kid got in trade value.

Didn't think that would be a real question

Around the time the elite console came out we were told to call those who had pre-order the system and let them know they can trade in their old next gen system for 200.00 in store credit. This guy was first on my list...

Me: yeah you can trade in your system and games Him: not bad! Do you guys take pot too? Me: … um what? Him: ya know pot, weed? Me: No… Him: okay thought I ask

Why would we? He came by later to get it, made the trading difficult and had to explain why we needed a hdmi for the xbox one. But that’s another story

Antisemitic Customer

A few months ago I was a little GA during the holiday season. I was watching my ASM take a trade on a PS Vita, but the line was long so he took care of other customers beforehand. When the time came to take the trade, he noticed that the cable was frayed and told the customer this. 

Customer: You had my Vita back there that whole time, you could’ve done that to rip me off. I heard at “x” Gamestop that you make more money off the defective trades.

ASM: Actually I’ve worked at that Gamestop and I guartee you that’s not wha t happens.

Customer: *grunts* You’re just a bunch of dirty Jews. ‘Eff Gamestop! *Takes the trade back for a few hours and comes back thinking different people are working and takes $$*

Customer walks in. I see that they are clearly Hispanic so I great them in Spanish I swear without fail the response is always “espanol?” Like did you not any of the Spanish words that came out of my mouth? Guaranteed every time.

Sir, that is not a GameStop receipt.

Today we had a man come in to return a game. Normal stuff, easy enough. Or, it should have been. My coworker (who was the one actually handling the transaction, not me) asked to see the receipt, and the man obliged. Then, my coworker noticed something.

"Sir, this is not a GameStop receipt. This is a receipt from a family owned game store on the other side of town. Did you purchase this from there?"

"No, I bought it from here, and got that receipt."

The other store's logo is clearly the one on the receipt, and the price was about two dollars lower than GameStop's. The customer is very adamant that he bought the game from us. So my coworker decides to take in the game, and enter in the price on the receipt instead of what's in our system. I don't think he'll be trying to cheat us out of two dollars again.

Phone Etiquette

"Thank you for calling GameStop plus Cricket Wireless, this is XXXXX how may I help you?" Do you have Kirby on 3ds? "Let me check for you...I do! It's $32.99" Silence Silence Silence "...is there anything else I can help you with...? Oh, no thanks *click* How freaking hard is it to have a damn phone conversation?? You ask a question, you get an answer, you end the call! I can't tell you how many calls go like that where I give an answer and the person on the other end of the call is just silent until I ask if there is anything else then need. IT'S NOT THAT HARD!

I’m a 3 year GS manager, whom also is a member of last year’s prestigious President’s Club, *heavy sarcasm*. I read through everything I saw on your site. And still, there many stories we could add to it, just by ourselves. You guys are great! True soldiers in the war for payroll and remedially educated customers! Someone needs to tell our tales before it becomes too late. The world needs to hear these stories. I thank you for your time. May you unlock many achievements and even more to come. I usually don’t really mess with the games before selling them, (aside from checking the disc to make sure it’s a good copy) but this ONE time I decided to flip through the booklet and I found this.

So glad I caught this before selling it to a 12 year old. His mom would have shit bricks.

P.S. the game came in an RSB, we didn’t take it in that way.

[Update] Full Disclosure

I've been really busy these past months with a new job, family happenings, rebuilding my PC, Black Desert Online... But, the good news, is that after recovering the password (because I somehow forgot it), I've set up a separate device to handle things like SGSCS. #Rude

So, this happened to my brother about three months ago:

A kid, maybe 12-13 years in age, walks into the store and tromps to the counter, cutting off about five other customers in process. He demands service but has to wait while my brother (we'll call him Nick) helped the people who were waiting in line. After about 15-20 minutes, Nick turns to the kid and asks...

Nick: What can I do for ya bud? Kid: *exasperated* FINALLY! Do y'all have the new PS Vita 2? Nick: *confused* Um....Do you mean the PS Vita 2000? Because we ha-- Kid: NO, the PS Vita 2!!!!! I saw a video on YouTube about it!!!!

This kid had the weirdest accent, and on top of that, it sounded like he was talking out of his nose.

Nick: I'm sorry, but the newest model of the PS Vita line is the slim version. If your'e interested I have a cou-- Kid: NO! I know you have one!! *looks around* There! There it is!!

Unbeknownst to the kid, the object the was pointing to was the PSP Go. By now Nick is a little ticked off by this little turds attitude, but keeps his cool and attempts to inform the kid about what he was talking about.

Nick: Um...I'm sorry, that's a PSP Go....Are you interested in looki-- Kid: No...*walks off*

This was Nick’s second day on the job so he got a taste of the shit GameStop customers say pretty quickly.
