hi, i'm hyena (it/xe/he). are you tired of toyhouse users misusing profile warnings, or having warnings that are hard to read? well i sure am.

directly inspired by @toyhouse-cw-misuse as it has been inactive for some months now. as such im keeping this intro fairly short and sweet.

the purpose of this blog is to act as a place to criticise and point out what is wrong with profile warnings, not necessarily just to make fun of bad ones (particularly egregious examples though i may make fun of).

This blog focuses on toyhouse's built in content warning, both for user and character profiles

any identifiable info will be censored by yours truly. feel free to send either a profile link or a screenshot link via imgur something that is not Imgur

feel free to submit your own warnings for critique. i will always provide constructive critcism to anyone who needs it.

what exactly makes a "shitty" warning, though? well, easy. anything that doesn't actually serve as a content warning. the purpose of a content warning is to let other people know about potentially distressing or triggering content.

the character-storage site toyhou.se is incredibly known to have many users who have strange, weird, vague, useless DNI (do not interact) criteria for whatever reason, hence the many threads appearing in the general/off-topic subforum based off of “strange DNI lists” other users find on the site, which is now what this blog is going to be based off of

this blog believes that DNI lists for the most part are useless and virtue-signaling for the most part, and that blocking as much as you want is better than a performative DNI list. feel free to believe what you want about DNIs but know this blog is anti DNI.

submit any DNI criteria you find on toyhou.se that you think is weird or fits, no matter how common or rare it may be, whether it be odd or vague or just unhelpful to have, or even for simply being placed in a profile warning or somewhere it should not be, given that it follows the guidelines below:

• it is preferred to submit an image, link to an image, or plain text rather than a link to the user that has the DNI

• can can be posted on or off anon whether through the tumblr anonymous ask feature or through regular ask to upload an image, but being anon upon request

• the DNI must be found either on toyhou.se itself or by a user that is on toyhou.se, whether it be on site or on the user’s carrd, strawpage, reentry, other social media. no random DNIs found offsite by a user completely unrelated to toyhouse

• namedropping, witch-hunting, harassment of any users with said DNI’s is strictly prohibited, and any images of DNI’s must have all usernames censored

• DNI’s that are just “minors/adults DNI” etc. are disallowed from submission

Sorry for no posts the past 2 days, the common cold struck me down. But I am back

i'm the anon that submitted my warning with the accordion toggles and, since i saw a comment about it, i wanted the mod to share that i'm a-okay with people taking that idea if they like it! i don't care for credit or anything so you don't even need to say that it wasn't your idea, it's literally just a toggle collapse in a specific page lol.

if you want to do it yourself, you can look up how to do accordions in bootstrap html if you want to be fancy. if not, i *believe* aurorean has a snippet or two for collapsing toggles (that aren't accordions) that you can use as a base/reference.

additionally, if you want to do the toggles in your character warnings as well, you need to use a different ID as the same ID in both places will mess with the code. (for example, the ID i use for my global settings is <div id="CW-#"> while i use <div id="TW-#"> for characters. if they have the same, ive found that only one accordion will trigger and not the other. with regular collapsible toggles, i'd assume both would appear at the same time.)

im glad it's been well-received because im a person who gets triggered by specific depictions of certain topics, not all instances, and having the extra elaboration is useful. but i also didn't want to make it so people see a wall of text by default, especially as that means people would be more likely to gloss over it

forgot the username but there was this one toyhouse user who stated to be a minor in the profile, but in their warning include: my contents are not suitable for children! like uuuh

I'd say this was insane but I once stumbled upon a minor with a mature locked account so I think I've seen worse.

Not terrible anon. The images are a little unnecessary but they're only dividers so not too bad. Text has good contrast (besides the hyperlink which is a little bit difficult)

My only real advice would be changing order? Maybe swapping the bit about CSS and the content warnings.

Overall, again, not terrible.
