“The Great Gadget Surrender”
Imagine a world where every night at 10:00 PM, all your gadgets mysteriously disappear. Sounds like a sci-fi movie, right? Well, that’s exactly what happened in our house when my dad laid down the law.
A few days ago, he announced that all electronic devices—phones, laptops, you name it—had to be handed over to him at 10:00 PM sharp. At first, we laughed, thinking he was just joking around. But as the days went by, we realized he was dead serious.
We weren’t thrilled about it. After all, who doesn’t love a bit of late-night internet surfing or music before bed? But none of us dared to argue with him, knowing well his reputation for strictness. So, like obedient little soldiers, we handed over our gadgets every night.
To my surprise, this turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me. The soreness and tiredness in my eyes vanished into thin air. I started waking up feeling more refreshed than ever before. With my newfound free time before bed, I began reading books, doing skincare routines, and meditating—activities that had previously been overshadowed by endless scrolling.
I started getting deeper, more restful sleep and, as a result, began waking up earlier. This gave me precious extra hours in the morning for exercise, journaling, and prayer. It was a revelation!
Then came a fateful Saturday when my father forgot to collect our gadgets. We thought we had been blessed by the heavens! But alas, it was a blessing in disguise. That night, I experienced eye pain, tiredness, and disturbed sleep once again. It was a stark reminder of how detrimental those late-night screen sessions were to my health.
From that day forward, I vowed to hand over my gadgets willingly. Not only did it improve my physical and mental well-being, but it also instilled a sense of discipline in my life. And so, we all lived happily ever after, with healthier minds and bodies, thanks to our father’s wise rule. 📱🚫✨
